Montgomery county kids are taught to play tough and that is a testiment to how well coached they are. I think that they will be tough in the future.

6'8 Bogeyman, and you are absolutely right should have been contenders. I like to use the word GEL or lack thereof to describe that bunch. It just seems that there was nobody willing to step up and help their big gun maybe because he is the coach's kid or whatever, either way the kid can play. Let this be the lesson to young people. Recognize who the guns are and fill the roles around those weapons and success is for the taking.

Wow, where to start? Lets see, win the last two region championships (thats right 2 in a row) and have a pretty clear cut path to number 3 and you only have one player on the first team. Maggie absolutely deserves to be on the first team. One poster earlier said that she needed to develop the 3. How rediculous does that sound. Why do you need to develop the three (which by the way is a nice 3pt shot already) when nobody can stop this girl from getting to the basket? I question right now the ability to finish with the foul, but that will come with age and strength. But that does not take away from the player she is. The girl is for real. Montgomery Co is by far the one of the top 5 teams in the state. You people love to hate but the truth is, they are just good from top to bottom.

I like Clark. Gold Sunrise, wow, I was at the game as well and yes tristan sounded pretty good before the game and he looked really good on the floor. I am thinking about taking a ride on the Clark bandwagon as well. Good luck to Clark in the regions. Go Clark. I just wanted to see how many times I could say Clark and not GRC.

Good point king, I dont feel like Estill can defend powell's big man and he is every bit of big too! and I feel like Estill and Powell will cancel each other out on the perimeter with a slight edge to Estill. Powell still wins big.

Guys get real. Small schools do not have a chance to win state championships anymore. Now more than ever, economic demographics play a part in state tournaments. Consider this if you will: you are a 6'8 guard from south east KY. Your parents are not very financially stable in their current work environment in rural KY. You happen to be a blue chip player at a small one horse (you being the one horse) high school. You make some connections at summer camp that you did not pay for, you transfer schools, your parents end up with better paying jobs, and presto chango you are competing at a major contending school for a state championship. Fact people! If you change the state setup so that the schools are classified, the small guy may not be as enticed to leave because he now knows that he will get some exposure because he knows that he can carry his small team to rupp and get some good publicity. Works out for everyone. Small schools just cannot compete with the Scott's,Laurel's, L'ville teams any longer. It is just that way. When is the last time a team with less than 1,000 high school kids won a state championship? that probably makes up 40 % of the schools in KY.

Rex and Fraley for president and as far as players go. I have seen a lot of college basketball players this year but Jackson and Euton are the absolute real deal guys. They are going to programs contending for their prospective conf. championships!! Congrats to all of the vanhoose's and daniels' out there getting it done.

When I played in college, if my parents approached my coach, the old man would have said, hey get your stuff and get packing. I feel like that is the approach that needs to be taken at the high school level. some kids are great to help get the team prepared for friday night games but simply are not as good as the kids that they will be facing on friday night varsity games so they do not play. The kids deep down know that too. If they are winning games most of them just accept the bench sitting, but the teams that are losing, that is where you get most of the problems with parents. As a coach, I dont give a hoot about who a kid's parents are, I play the best 5 every single time. I can promise you this, not a single parent is complaining when you are cutting down nets at RUPP, so dont complain when you are basement dwelling either.

Great post bandit!!! I feel like all regions should get out of the rut of calling certain ways for teams that they have called for 15 times that year. I heard a 10th region coach play a 16th team the other day and he said that he felt like it was the weakest officials he had seen all year. The same girls team from that high school played another 16th team and that coach told me the exact same thing. The 16th has really got a long way to go. they need to learn how to allow the game to get tougher and more physical allthewhile making safe. It can be done and hopefully it will get there.
