Ballard

 

If WC makes it (I don't know what class Elliott County is) that will be four, 4A schools in the semi-finals and there is nothing fair about that, not even close.

 

Also, I don't want to hear about what is best for the fans or what makes the most money...

IMO that's what we'd be doing if we use a class system in KY.

Lexington Catholic, Mason County, and Jeffersontown have all won state titles since 2002 and none is 4A.

So Beechwood, Highlands, CovCath and NCC's football championships aren't for real, due to the classed tourney??

This and the large number of larger school regional champs and runner-ups, especially in the competitive regions; certainly helps make the case for a classed system. I certainly don't think we need 6 like football, or maybe not even 4; but two (small school and large school) like several other sports might be a worthy experiment??

LexCath and Jtown are 3A and Mason went 3A the year after they won it.

 

I think those examples only make the case stronger for class basketball.

I think I've presented my case in the other thread. Larger schools begin the season with the goal of winning the state championship. Smaller schools begin the season with the goal of just making it to Rupp. Big difference there.

The Boy's Sweet 16 pays all the bills and salaries for the KHSAA.

Paintsville had some good runs in the late 90s. Russellville had a couple final 4 tournaments.
