They did this because they had a chance to do so. Look their is the All A for small schools. Thats a chance for those schools to win a state championship. And they have the chance to beat the big schools. Also the Sweet 16 is magical!

You keep missing my point. What about the schools too big for the All-A but are still considered a small school. Schools with enrollments between 425 and 750. Those are Class 2A schools in football. How many of the schools listed by rojas fall into this category?

The schools I listed above were only the class A schools.

The All "A" limit is 425 in grades 10-12, but since most high schools are 9-12, the real limit is around 600. The All "A" probably takes in 40 percent of the schools in Kentucky, which almost does what you're suggesting anyway.

 

There are no "small" schools that don't qualify for the All "A." The best you could hope for is "medium" schools and some of the them qualify now, which is the debate Westsider and I have yet to settle in about 10 years of trying.

I think doing away with the Sweet 16 would be a huge mistake! Is there a highschool sporting event better than that in the state? Like the amazing open game ceremonies of the championship game. Imagine how watered down that would be if they tried to do that 4 times in a day.
