  1. All of the above is true concerning Highlands right now. There is another month to play before anything really matters and having the favorite roll to carry can sometimes become a burden. Not that they won't win, but much bigger favorites have failed come March.
  2. Contrary to what some posters may think, the people I have talked to at the small parocial schools DO take this tourney very seriously. There is no way they don't value the merits of this tourney, and no way any of them would think of not playing in it.
  3. The draw is made in the spring of te previous year. Villa woul have beaten Heritage anyway so it really made no difference. Any redraw would have to have been for the entire bracket and I can't believe the teams in the upper bracket would have wanted that. They probably just wanted a redraw of the upper bracket, and you can't do that.
  4. The fact they only have 17 players total at all three levels really surprises me. They are a decent size school and I would have thought the total would be closer to 23-25. Any reason for the low number? Just curious.
  5. Trust me she was NOT happy playing JV. She is dedicated and did it because, lets face it, she had no choice. My point wasn't that she did or didnt play JV. My point was WHY wasn't she playing more to begin with. I think she has gotten the short end of the "Adler Sisters" transfer for 3 years now, and her play now seems to indicate she should have been playing more all along.
  6. For schools like Notre Dame, CovCath, etc. that have just boys or girls they double the enrollment to determine if you are eligible So there is no way Notre Dame would ever be eligible.
  7. I guess the question I have is why was she only paying 15 minutes of the Varsity games before Adler got hurt. She started a number of games last year as a sophomore, then winds up playing JV as a junior? Had to have been hard on her. Apparently she should have been playing all along, as they seem to be playing much better wih her in the starting lineup.
  8. They pick the games they are going to cover ahead of time, so they can't have a reporter at every game. They list whic games will be covered that nght in the paper. I'm sure it would be very tough to get a score at 10:00 at night for a game they didn't have a reporter/photographer at and make it the feature story. As to which games they cover, that's another story.
  9. Saw the same game and thought they did a good job. Almost everyone wants to criticize the 9th region officials for "calling it too tight". Now it seems they let them play too much. Can't have it both ways. Truth be known, most people want it called tight when they have the ball, but loose when they are on defense, and everyone would agree with this if they were honest.
  10. I have seen a number of games suspended at different gyms where the doors open directly, or almost , to the outside. Agree that Highlands is hands down the worst place to watch, play, or I'm sure officiate a game. It is dark, and at the one end the floor ridiculously close to the wall. I've always liked Ryle's gym, becuse you can get a number of views of the game there.
  11. Someone told me Cundiff of NCC is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. That will make a big difference, as someone will have to step up big time for them to handle Holy Cross Monday.
  12. Because in the regionals after expenses are covered the remaining money is split among the participating teams. In the state tourney the KHSAA keeps all money after expenses.
  13. Thank you very much for these ratings, as I either forget to look for them, don't look on the right day, or whatever. I know i would be too much to ask for them each week, but I assume from your lead in that they appear on Mondays.
  14. Your crowd estimates are way out of line. First round games seldom have 16,000, more like 10-12 thousand. Depending on the teams involved the semis and finals are lucky to draw 18,000. VERY, VERY seldom do they approach anything near 24,000.
  15. I agree it is all about the money, but how do 49 other states run the same type of athletic tourneys as Ky. and still have classes. I think 3 or 4 classes COULD be run and still raise the necessary money. If it couldn't then shame on the KHSAA for penalizing small/middle size schools because they can't be imaginative enough to raise the necessary money to do what everyone else does.
  16. The people who run the All A tourney are extremely dedicated and literally put in hundreds of volunteer hours obtaining sponsers, running regionals, etc.,etc..It could be done by AA size schools, but I doubt anyone wants to put that kind of time and effort into establishing it. Going to classes is the answer, but the KHSAA will never do it because the Sweet 16 is the primary money maker for the associaton. It could be done a number of ways and still have one overall champion, but the powers that be don't want to consider this option. It is absolutely ridiculous to have 6 classes, with about 35 teams in each class, in football but ONE class in basketball. No matter what anyone says 49 states aren't wrong and Ky. is the only one in step.
  17. Team B's coach was wrong. Team A can call time out.
  18. According to the KHSAA scoreboard Bullitt East beat Highlands 57-54. Apparently no one called in the score or stats to the local papers as nothing was written. The same thing happened when Highlands lost to South Oldham.
  19. The local team is responsible for calling in the score and stats for games out of town to the local papers and the Khsaa. Some also call them in to Lexington/Louisville papers.
  20. You are exactly right, it is simply a down year compared to the past few. On the other hand it will make for a number of close games since there are a number of teams bunched together. I think it is good for the region to have this many teams in the running, so lets just sit back and enjoy the season and not be concerned with other regions.
  21. Great idea to ignore him. Like most pests, if they are ignored they go away. Don't respond to anything he says. Thanks
  22. Typical of you, when corrected you become more sarcastic.
  23. I guess the next question is why did girls go from CC Middle schools to Brossart and why did the others quit?
