Freshman NKY

Featured Replies

Highlands frosh LadyBirds have begun the season with double digit wins over Holy Cross and Brossart. How have the other freshman teams got out of the gate? Who are some standout players?

Who shines for the Birds? I know typically if there is a STAR Girl player they usually move em up to JV/Varsity so it has to be tough for Frosh/Jr High coaches losing players to those squads.

Some are playing both frosh and JV. Aly Connor is the only frosh strictly up. This years squad is pretty much 10

deep. I believe everyone scored last night. As far as middle school squads there is only 1 8th grader playing up, and 4, 7th graders.

Boone County has Tasha Combs Jackie Marshall along with annie browning all freshman who are playing up JV and putting up good numbers. Should be girls to recon with the next few years.

Not sure how Scott is doing win/loss, but Lauren Tibbs (I believe is a Freshman) has had several double/doubles! She is really good and only going to get better!

Walton has a post player, Kelli Dixon. She is starting varsity and is definitely a factor in the game. Will be fun to watch her continue to grow and get stronger.

Williamstown has Chelsea West and Tori Wilhoit. Both are 3 year varsity starters for the team and both played significant minutes during their 6th grade year.

Wilhoit is 4 rebounds short of 500 and should get that her next game. She tied the school record with 16 earlier this year. Not bad for a 5'6" player.

Forgot to mention the Workman girl from Grant Co. I have heard she has been playing pretty well for them. I will get to see her on Friday.

Staying in the 32nd, Wainscott for SK is a nice player also.

I hear that Gallatin is relying heavily on a couple of freshman this year. Sorry I don't know their names.

Guess I should have titled this thread as freshman teams. I do enjoy reading about all of the players, and it sounds like there are a lot of good ones out there. I'd like to know how the freshman teams are faring in the beginning of the season. Also the Scott Holiday tournament is coming up, any favorites going in?

good picks on Tosha Combs and Kelli Dixon, both will be dominate by Junior year

St. Henry Freshman team is undefeated, posting double digit wins over Boone, Notre Dame, Scott, and Ludlow..... Not a true reflection of the Freshman class strength in the Region, considering most other programs have moved some Freshman to the JV & Varsity level. Don't believe any Freshman at St. Henry's has been moved to JV or Varsity level. The two most talented players would be Abby Janzen in the post & Taylor Gamm at point.

Walton does not start freshman schedule until Jan. - Will keep you posted.

I saw St. Henry's freshman play Ludlow and was really impressed with their team.
