That is a legitamate Question. I know why the coach this thread is about didn't move is because he LOVES working with high school kids. It certainly wouldn't be because he would take a pay CUT. Believe me, at schools like NCC there isn't much to cut from. It's dedication that keeps these coaches where they are. Pure and simple.

Maybe it's time to give the coaching staff credit for making half-time adjustments, because they just come out and dominate teams in the 2nd half.

I am curious why everyone seems to think that a DeSales win would be a MAJOR upset. I don't think any team that makes it to the State Semis should be thinking in those terms. I'm sure NCC would take a one point win and be happy. There are no "style points" in the playoffs. Just win and advance.

There are probably a lot of things NCC could do well, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. If they run out of the I it takes away the option that Kues runs so well. It also doesn't give him as much time to look for receivers. Agree with what they did late by putting Kues under center to avoid any possible bad snaps after they had the lead, but stay with has brought home 2 straight titles and I think they will have a third.

Glad to hear it just isn't NeCath that has a problem with the sore losers at the city school in Pulaski Co. Pretty soon they will acuse Corbin of recruiting.

I'm not around the program, but see no reason the program would go down. They return all meaningful players except Klei, including Cundiff and Sandfoss, so I would think they would be looking at another big season.

Agree about the pre-game prayer. Isn't it a shame that all schools can't do that because it would "offend" someone. And we wonder why the world is in the shape it is.

You're missing my point. I'm not saying it can't be done, obviously it can since the All A does it. SOMEONE (school) has to make the proposal to the KHSAA and apparently no one has thought is that big a problem to do so. I'm betting you won't find a school willing to make that proposal, whether you think is "church" related or not. IMO no Superintendent is going or record as being the one proposing SUNDAY games.

Volleybal is set up exactly like basketball. If you have 16 regional winners you are never going to get the best 16 teams in the tourney. The fact of the matter is that probably 14/15 of the best volleyball teams in the state come from the 4 regions that encompass Louisville and NKY. Until the rest of the state catches up, it will remain that way. Sacred Heart is ranked 26th in the countryand they are not even the tourney.

I may be a little dense on the home team match ups, but indulge me. If Corbin and NCC get to the regional finals where would the game be played?

I think NewCath has the toughest road to the semis as Owensboro Cath has a respectable record and has played some of the Louisville schools. The Henry Clay/ Sout Laurel winner will be a good test also. NewCath has beaten Henry Clay already this year, but any team with an athlete like Gwen Rucker can pose a problem. The other 3 semi participants mentioned above won't even break a sweat in their first two matches. Saturday afternoon and night should provide some very exciting matches, and I would encourage any casual fans who really want to see the game played it is supposed to be to come out to NKU and enjoy themselves.

I am not disagreeing with you at all about the Sat/Sun advantages. The answer is in your first statement, however. The All A is simply an "invitational" tourney, so schools enter knowing they may play on Sunday. The KHSAA is NOT going to go on record as santioning Sunday play. If teams on their own want to play, that's their own decision. As I mentioned, it would be good for ALL sports to play the state finals on the weekend, but football, baseball, etc. doesn't do it either. Who wants to go to a football state final afternoon on Friday, but that is what happens. I don't want to say it is a "religious" thing, but bottom that is what it is. Their are some public school in NKY that don't play on Wednesday nights because that is Church night, and heaven knows the KHSAA already has it's hands full along these lines. Bottom line, I agree with all your reasoning but I'm saying it just won't happen.

Just because v'ball teams don't play on Friday in NKY doesn't mean it is this way throughout the state. Many games are played on Friday in Louisville, the other hotbed for the sport. Games scheduled by the KHSAA will NOT be played on Sunday, because the vast majority of the teams in the state come from areas that don't play ANYTHING on Sunday. I agree it would be nicer on everyone to play on Saturday/ Sunday, but the sports world doesn't revolve around NKY. It would be nice if football , basketball, soccer, track, etc state tourneys were all played on Sat/ Sun, but again the KHSAA will NOT allow it because any such proposal would be overwhelmingly be voted down by the majority of schools outside NKY and Louisville. P.S. I will hate to miss a football game Friday also, but the V'ball State tourney will take precedence.

Don't disagree at all, but basketball has the same problem. Also, to seed everyone has to play all other teams in the district and some schools don't want to do this. If I had a say I would seed also. But you will never get the weaker schools to agree to this as a blind draw is practically their only hope of getting to te region. In basketball they vote every year and it is alwys 3-2 to not seed, with highlans an NewCath in favor and Dayton, Newport and Bellevue opposed. What can you do? It has to come from the state and I think they will be reluctant to step in.

I guess Highlands has just been "lucky" the last several years, as the coaches certainly didn't have anything to do with it according to you. Don't bet your house on NDA losing their next game either. Your post is the best "sour grapes" one I have seen in a long time. By the way, I have no affiliation with either school, but couldn't let this post go without a comment.

No sport is perfect, but I'm curious about exactly needs "fixing" in volleyball. I think it is as exciting as any sport there is, as attested to by the CC/NewCath match.

I almost always agree with your views, but have to take exception to this one. When would you suggest volleybal play their state tourney? Everything doesn't revolve around football, especially regular season games. The state tourney dates are established long before Senior nights so maybe that could be changed. I sympathize with those who want to be at both, but this is the STATE TOURNAMENT. With so much going on in the Fall, there are bound to be conflicts. Last volleyball abd soccer finals conflicted also. It can't be avoided.

If that is the case isn't it quite a coincidence that the good teams keep getting "handed over" to the same high schools every year. Your dreaming if you think the high school coaches don't have anything to do with the development of their talent.

That was as good a volleyball match as you will ever see. Constant action for an hour and a half. Campbell Co. deserves loads of credit for playing an outstanding match, they just came up a hair short. NewCath's leaders just stepped up when they were needed the most. Sad thing is CC is probably better than 11-12 of the teams that will be playng in the State Tournament next week.

Agree completely. In fact I think it would have been more unnerving to the servers if there had been absolute silence. What a great match. If you are ANY kind of sports fan and didn't thoroughly enjoy that match, you don't belong at sporting events.
