Its not illegal or unethical. There is nothing wrong with videotaping a game.

I believe it is illegal for me to videotape the game of my opponent, UNLESS my team is playing in that game.

According to who?

ILLEGAL

Case BL 11-12- Can a school or other entity on behalf of

a school videotape an opponent without permission?

No. Such acts would be considered a violation of Bylaw 11, the

practice of sportsmanship. Any school representative taping

a contest of an opponent with which they are not currently

engaged in competition without the permission of that

opponent, is an unethical and unsportsmanlike act.

If you are taping the game of your own team, then I see no problem with it. However, if I went to watch Team A and Team B play and we play both of them in the next couple weeks, I would say unethical. But really, if I went and watched a team play 5 times and write down all their plays and such, what is the difference?????? I personally wouldn't do it because I would feel it is unethical.....

But if you work for Belichek and the N.E. Patriots it is both legal and ethical......haha

What if some woman was there acting like she was from the visiting team & she was just "video taping her son" but in reality she is from a totally different county taping the game for that counties coach...How would anybody know the difference?

It may be illegal to personally go film your opponent, but its not illegal to obtain a game tape and watch it.

And don't think for a second that this doesn't happen all the time :thumb:

Seems like if you just ask the other Coach they would probably say yes.

I am not sure why it is illegal, they share gamefilm all the time.

Oh I know :thumb:

Well the AD will know the parents from his own school. And all it would take would be a question to the coach of the other school to identify if that parent was with them.

How often do you think that actually happens? 9 out of 10 times or 10 out of 10 times, nobody is going to question the other team if that "filmer" is from their school.
