Highlands really is trying to improve the baseball field. I remember it three years ago, it was on the level of terrible as Holy Cross/Holmes field.

Holmes/Holy Crosses field really needs some work on! The field is terrible.

Scott should and will take care of business in this one. Although during tourney time anything could happen, Scott should win this one handily. We should see another Scott/GRC semifinal in our future. I'm still holding out hope that this will finally be the year Scott gets over the hump of GRC as they seem to have our number in a variety of sports.

Good win to Scott. Scott now has won districts 4 years in a row, I believe its a new record for Scott.

Reminded me a bit of how teams like Holy Cross and Boone County would play Holmes the past few years. It can be very affective as there is no shot clock in High School so a team that knows how to run it can make the game close. My hat is off to the Cougars for making a game out of it. Hopefully Scott will play a bit better next game and take care of business against Campbell County.

^ i think thats one of the freshman teams to watch out for this year. I got to see a good amount of the Scott tryouts. I have mixed feeling about this team, 4 of the freshmen play JV or Varsity and the best infielder on the freshmen team has a shoulder injury and is out for 2 weeks. So i will split this into positives and negatives. The positives: This team has some major talent. They have outstanding hitting. Almost every player can hit the ball with solid contact. They do have some hitters that may be moved on to JV because of the shortage of JV players this year. The infield seems to be solid. While their still trying to find some more pitchers, the pitchers that they have are excellent. The Negatives- As i said before, it's true that they have some major talent, they also have some major problems. They are good hitters but some them really need to work on the defensive side of the game. And since there is a shortage of JV players this year, some of the experienced players from last year will be called up, leaving the new comers to learn the game slower. I said the infielders were a solid group but i didn't mention the outfielders. This is where they need to improve. They have some talent out there they just need to find a way to use it ( position changes? They have some outfielders that could be better infielders). And lastly the pitching. Like i said the group they have now is excellent but it's small. They have about 4-5 solid pitchers and in freshmen level they need to have about 6-9 because of high pitch counts. Overall- I think this team will be average at the beginning of the year and later on becoming a good team. Their first game is March 22 against Ryle (I find it funny that the post above was about Ryle).

His name was Zac Adams and he graduated in 2008. He was the ace his junior year and he pitched the first game of the season and touched 90. Three games later he was hurt at first base when a runner ran into his right shoulder and torn his laybrum( my bad if it's not spelled correctly). Thats the reason he wasn't really heard of until his senior year when he lead NKY in home runs (11).

Adams from Scott was throwing low 90's in his first start of his junior year before getting hurt.

Its more than just having an arm. There are many other aspects inlcuded as well as the intangibles that come with being a QB at high-D1 college.

Over 40 offers? Thats ridiculous. I don't think some of the 5-star guys even recieve that many.

Definitely surprised with this one as well but there always seemed to be a really solid team that year (ala Holmes, CovCath, etc.) that always took it from them. Still congrats to all the Scott players!

Rumor is that with this win, Scott wins the conference title for the first time in school history. If true, that is a great accomplishment.

Scott always has some 8th graders playing with them. This years 8th graders are not as good as last years but there are some kids who will be very promising.

Your right nobody is giving Dixie any thought. Probably because there to busy arguing about CCH vs HC and Beechwood. Anyways, I think Dixie will have a good year. Returning Sexton and Popham along with Abeling and Barnhorst will make them contenders in the 9th. Another thing to say is that Sexton will be a contender in POY. I got to see him pitch a shutout against Scott last year and the kid was an all around stud.

Any relation to Tyler Verst who was Brossart's ace pitcher for baseball in 2008? Just curious.

I think that Scott is going to move into the top 3 by the end of the year. The Eagles return 8 seniors (4 of them starters last year). There also have a good junior and sophomore class that will help through out the year, not to mention that a few freshman may play some varsity too. The downside of this class may be the pitching. The Eagles had 4 seniors last year who all pitched(all 4 were starters & 1 of them was the closer) so there going to be returning 1 major starter and a couple of 6 mans from the varsity experience. But they do have some good pitching in some of the Juniors and Sophomores.

I would probably put mason at 7 but neither way this is actually a believable list.
