Highlands is still a question mark IMO. They lost a fair bit and they just got trounced by Trinity but then again everybody does. With that being said, we still don't have a gauge on how good they will truly be this year. They have been very consistent over the years so if you follow that they should be just fine.

I talked to one of Bob's assistants at a local church I attended recently about the whole situation as I wasn't sure what was happening. To keep it short and simple, things were said that shouldn't have been said and many people (including parents and administration) weren't happy about it. Bob has had some "personal" problems he has been dealing with recently and it affected his duties as a coach and helped lead to what has happened today. While it is unfortunate, I do hope Bob is able to get another job and based on what I discussed with the assistant coach Bob will be continue to coach it is just a matter of where. Based on the discussions, Lloyd has already said they would take him if he wants to be there although Bob is also exploring some other opportunities. I won't name the assistant coach on here but if you wish to know who he is just message me for the details.

Silver Grove is a tough sell with a very small school size and a very tough district to get out of with teams like Scott, Campbell County, and Brossart.

You are correct sir. I think we might see something very special come out of Taylor Mill this year if Mr. Osbourne produces well enough.

So they shouldn't go outside then? I know what you are tying to say with this but I just don't see it. It's baseball, it is mainly played in he hottest portion of the year and there is no avoiding that. However we can't play high school games that early in the morning or that late into the night. I'd rather the KHSAA make the kids drink 2 bottles of water that all the coaches must supervise they drink instead of the current rule they have.

Beechwood could very well wind up back where they were before Bob depending on who they find to replace him. Any chance one if his assistants getting the job?

Agreed. This whole situation has been very vague with more questions than answers. There has to be more to the story.

Yes, technically he wasn't "fired" but it's astonishing for Beechwood to make such a move given the success he has had there and what the program was before his reign.

I'd love to know the reasoning behind this. It just doesn't make any sense if true. Bob has been extremely successful and is well respected. I'm sure he'll get some offers to coach but whether he accepts them is a different matter. Do you know why this happening Guru?

Meyerhoff is as fair as it gets. He rewards hard work and respect. If you don't give him that, he won't play you nor should any coach. The only people he is "influenced" by is what he sees in practice as well as what his assistants are noticing as well. He may get along with the parents of the players but in no way has he ever let those relationships affect who he will play. If little johnny isn't playing it is because he hasn't put the work in or isn't doing the things the coaches want him to do. Meyerhoff has been around too long and has had way too many successful teams and players come from the Beechwood program to have the "fairness" card played against him.

Bob Meyerhoff is one of the best coaches in the state and Beechwood would be nuts to let him go. For a 1A school to have as much success as they have had over the years and to sustain it for so long is incredible. Granted I am a bit biased as I played for his summer team when I was younger before moving on to the Colonels but I never learned so much about the game until I started playing for him. All he asks for his players is that they give 100% effort and they show respect, nothing more and nothing less. If you have a question all you need to ask and he is willing to step aside and talk to you about it. He takes time to help each of his players if you are willing to give him that time. His assistants in Dave Baioni and John Morris are wonderful people and also great coaches in their own rights. For having one bad season, its shocking that there are even rumors of this. If there is a growing gap between the players and the coaches, why is this the case? If thats the issue then the entire team needs to get together and air everything out. Do not involve the parents in this as in my experience they are the reason why many coaches don't last because little johnny isn't getting enough playing time. Some of these kids will soon be entering college and need to assume a little responsibility. For the life of me I have no idea what this could be about. Granted I haven't spoken to Bob since last year but when I did he seemed like the same guy that had coached me about 7 years ago. He loves the game of baseball and teaching kids all that he knows. His practices were some of the most productive ones I've ever been apart of and I learned more in my 2 years with him than I did with any other coach. Its hard for me to collectively grasp what is happening here. Regardless, I hope Beechwood realizes what kind of caliber coach they have right now in Bob. The man has completely transformed their baseball program and it has been one of the best programs over the last decade. This is absolutely shocking and I only wish him and his staff the best. Hopefully I'll be able to catch Bob during this summer and talk to him about all this.

Any score on the Scott/Brossart game?

Scott has finally settled down defensively but their bats remain cold. Scott's catcher then guns a runner at second as I post this.

Ryle gets out of the 5th with a double play as Scott had runners on first and second with one out.

Ryle's pitcher has done a very good job tonight with nice a mix of fastball and breaking balls. Ryle's defense also has handled everything that has come their way. As I say this Ryle's LF makes a great catch as he lays out for a ball down the line.

Scott has come out and laid an egg today but Ryle has continued the same solid play they have displayed the entire tournament and the 6-0 lead they have is a testament to that.

It was close for sure. Given the score of the game though it won't matter too much unless Scott does something.

Did it look like he was out of the baseline as he tried to avoid the tag? It looked questionable to me as I have solid view down third baseline.
