  1. Jeff was one of the genuine good men of this game. His players were tough, disciplined, and sound. KY football has lost a good coach, and even better man. My prayers are with his family as his wife and several young children are left behind.
  2. Add to the list: Bourbon Co Henry Co Glasgow (used to, not sure since the rebuilt the school) Thought I read somewhere that Clay Co. has one???
  3. Hmmm...or the leadership above him carries the same type of disdain for their public school rivals and is not overly concerned about this behavior (as mentioned by other coaches on this board it's not the first time he and others have exchanged pleasantries)? Character (of which I am not questioning as I do not attend church, live at home with him, or am there when nobody is watching) may not always be the biggest concern if he's not out raising heck and in the news, but let's remember that winning covers up a lot of "issues", and that's on both sides of the fence. Yes even in high school, especially high profile schools, winning DOES matter and often times "little" things aren't big things until you start losing. Keep in mind, we all fall short of the glory, and nobody is perfect, so I am not crucifying anyone here. I have seen where more and more schools do the hand shake pre-game. Perhaps that is a better way to go if we cannot seem to keep in perspective that this is JUST a game and in the end is NOT life or death. My dad used to say if you can't shake the hand of the man that beats you, then you aren't much of a man. Sounds like the coaches and kids need that reminder...regardless of who started it.
  4. Todd is still the HC, to my knowledge there is no coach in waiting. It wouldn't shock me to see him step away soon with his son playing at Murray.
  5. Well, not really. They wanted to split public and private and the vote succeeded...this was the KHSAA who came up with this after legislature said no to the split.
  6. Spencer finally gets over the hump. 28-14 for the Bears.
  7. To quote the movie 300 "This is madness". Again, I can understand if you have ZERO teaching duties and you make 80K to coach...but that's Texas football not KY football. What are school districts hiring? 99% of the head coaches in this state are hired as teachers who coach, not the other way around. Start paying guys to coach instead of teach, give him the facilities he needs, and allow recruiting and I can see justifying this kind of reckless behavior.
  8. Whomever wins it this year may not even be top 10 next year...it's gonna be a buzz saw. I agree with the rankings this week...still too early to call anything.
  9. GCHS, I would say that for 90% of the programs in the state losing a Division 1 player or 2-3 solid players (Belfry), can certainly have an impact regardless of classification-especially a kid you build your offense around. Good lesson about composure for that young man. The good part, it doesn't cost him a scholarship or anything that is really all that important for that matter. Their goals of a district title and playoff run are still very much intact!!
  10. Not beating ANYTHING here. I don't disagree...who said differently? I never said anything about rushing or any other stats-that's all you big fella. Agree, it has always been politics there. My point was simple, they beat a team they did a year ago. Nothing changed in the game plan, give 44 the ball, just the same as a year ago. The end result from last year was the same...a win. In terms of building a program let's see how long he's there. Rumor at the mill is he's already thinking of becoming a Knight! Perhaps you should start a new thread about TC??
  11. Never argued there was SOME talent. My point was there is no longer the same talent level of the past decade, and certainly not the speed of old...and its not coming up the pipeline either. I would also say your point about trouble in DRAGONLAND was a big assumption and way to stir the pot. I saw the TC-Larue game...looked a lot like the same team from last year. Nothing different in scheme on offense from a year ago. Defense was different, but not very good, but that will improve as the kids get the hang of it I am sure...last year they fed 44 the ball and beat Larue, the same thing happened Friday night. TC has won the same games at last year up to this point...but the gauntlet begins for them. Anyway, congrats to the Dragons...I think the most shocked were the Eagles. Good luck to all as the season goes on.
  12. Same kid as last year Purple. He gave LaRue problems last year and is a LOAD to bring down. Nimble for such a big kid.
  13. Pretty sure Taylor won this last year too. LaRue is starting a ton of young kids, and are improving weekly. LaRue had a kick off return called back and was in this til the end. Good win for the cards, but lets see how the next 4 weeks go, I will wait til then to see how this fiasco plays out.
  14. The smell of the fresh cut grass, the feel of the lights on Friday night, and tailgating with old friends.
  15. Having watched Graves play this year I was a little disappointed. I guess my expectations were a little too large for them after last season. Mayfield by as many as they wanna score.
  16. Gotcha there Lion...just don't understand why it's Cow Days...what's the significance of the Cow celebration?? Did Aaron and Moses stop in with a golden calf?? :woot:
  17. He's a stud...deserves everything he gets. Love the fact that he plays for his local school instead of opting to try and go somewhere else to "win the big one". Gonna have a tough decision on where to attend college.
  18. Boyle wins easily, but I have always thought GRC looks like a small college team when they get off the bus!
  19. All questions...except why is it called Cow Days? LOL
  20. With Griff, it is what it is. Coach Gupton would tell you how things really went down...but that isn't important. Here is the roster from that 8th grade year for KY. There are 3 kids from Green Co. not 6. 2013 future stars: 8th grade Offensive Line / Defensive Line Jaden Washington Will Bischoff Jedrick Wills Michael Clark Xavier Douglas Dominick Williams Wendell Stewart Marquellis Tutt Brendan Sullivan Mathew Holder Cole Spencer Anthony Timmering Steven Franklin Durwood Forrest Carter Hayslett John Page Quarterbacks Dessi Austin Walker Wood Tight End Andrew Davis Specialists Bryce Webb Jackson Wine Wide Receivers Jalen Mcfadden Quinten Brown Konnor Polson Trintin Ashburn Quinten Floyd Jaylon Carr Running Backs Kyree Hawkins Domonick Lewis Gregory Bethel Keegan Gassett Donald Smith Demonte Johnson Defensive Backs Quinton Hayden Jr Odell Smith Christian Babin Ethan Pierce Justin Richie Stephon Bullock Chauncey Greer Dylan Lee Rogers Linebackers Johnathan Ford Sa’von Brewer Nathan Collett Domynik Bell Alex Cima Isaac Marti
