Not most of the time, in fact I would say it's less often than we think. Lucas stayed at Collins knowing they would slide back, LeFores has stayed at CAL, Brad Hood at ACS, Hines at Pulaski, Greggory at Graves...too many to name. Granted those were not bottom feeders per say, but they all have had chances to move on to other schools, I am certain, and all have stayed put knowing their respective teams may never achieve the level of success or getting to a title game again. Sometimes a guy is just happy developing his kids and getting the most out of them. With that said, we do see it at times when a coach has some success at a school where there has been very little, that some move on...but who can blame them when it's win or you're out in today's HS sports world. Just food for thought.

Most football contracts don't mention being competitive...just FYI. Special ED is now apart of the GAP and the most highly litigated area...not an "easy" job by any stretch anymore since that is the emphasis in most districts now and most PE jobs are held by tenured teachers and former coaches so that's out. Most college coaches start as GA's and rarely as HS head coaches. With that said, the biggest issue is expectation vs reality vs resources. IMO.

Most school districts are open enrollment (some tuition based if you live out of district)...but mom and dad have to transport, the school district ain't picking up that tab.

Perhaps West Jessamine has the best athletes out...since 2000 WJ has won about 1/3 of their ball games. That should about sum up WJ and all the talent walking the halls.

Nope. MOST, nearly all coaches in KY teach a full schedule. 5-6 preps a day in a state tested content area. Unless you're tenured you sign a 1 year teaching contract...so it does go hand in hand with your 1 year coaching contract. They simply choose not to renew the teaching contract, thus fire you without "firing" you. So, hire only coaches to coach, pay them 60k and you have an argument for a wins/losses based hire/fire system. Until then, MOST districts hire a teacher who coaches, not the other way around. There are ALWAYS exceptions to that rule, but rare in KY. Head south to GA, AL, AR, FL and you will find a system that incorporates what you want.

Unfortunately there are too many people (community members that coached "way back when", retired coaches who coached the most talented teams in school history, school board members, parents...etc) that put pressure on spineless supers and admin. They begin to listen to the cowards of the county (who NEVER actually go speak with the coach) and determine that with "all the talent out there" that they are underachieving. Never mind the aforementioned points about making boys (most now come from single mother homes) into REAL men, wins and losses become the focus. But what almost always happens is that team, with all that talent, doesn't outperform the previous year/years and the new coach gets put on over the fire...this is 50% of Kentucky schools as of late and a dangerous trend for the young men of those programs.

How long does Larue get to be young? They have been "young" since the year after their Region Runner up 3 or 4 years ago? A team can just lack talent and be bad.

Wet night certainly didnt help them. This was my first chance watching them play and the rain clearly seemed to bother BC more than BE.

This was the dragons only foreseeable chance to beat a really down Glasgow team. Looking at this schedule early I thought 6-8 wins was very realistic considering so many starters were returning. Ah well, always next year. Keep your heads up dragons.

Henry dog walked Bardstown...not sure Waggener will want to play the physical game that Henry County brings to the table, coaching is very good there as well. Waggener should finish 3rd as Bardstown is a MASH unit and will not win too many more games and be lucky to grab the 4th seed with they way they look right now. But, that's why they play the games!

Depends on if their QB is playing...if Farmer plays they win, if not...it will be tough sledding against HC.

Cville by 14, they win the first Cow Days trophy for their case. Green's loss to TC last week was a shocker, and I am not sure they can mentally get over it. Hope they do, but the Eagles are flying high with confidence and they are at home. I'm afraid the streak stops here.
