ALLDAYSPORTS Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Green County wins huge. Campbellsville again without starting running back/safety Kendon Young as well as starting QB/LB Cody Houk.
green2thebone Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Good job Dragons. The "D" and special teams were responsible for much of the scoring. Good luck Eagles the rest of the way.
newarkcatholicfan Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Congrats on the win. Good luck next week.
UK fball fan Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 So much for all the Top 10 talk regarding Campbellsville..
ALLDAYSPORTS Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 So much for all the Top 10 talk regarding Campbellsville.. It's hard to say that two guys make a difference in football, but Kendon Young and Cody Houk really do make a difference. They were without bout their starting QB/LB and star RB/saftey. Complete different ball game if those two are playing. But then again, they weren't. Can't blame it on that however.
OptionFootball Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Horse, looks like there is still talent at Green. The Matney kid without question has proved that he is as good as everyone said. The rains got taken off an he was allowed to run the football. Looks like the Green County of old. Sometimes you just have to do what your talent can do. As said earlier. It is not that the talent level changes much it is more doing what your talent can do. Taylor County went from a -1 yard rushing against the Eagles to 548 against the Hawks, doing what there talent allows them to do.

I think the best teams in the state don't automatically run the same stuff over and over year after year, but they are the ones that tweak their systems the best to fit the ever evolving skill sets that each particular team has. Congrats to Green County sounds like they have a good team this year!

My point was there is no longer the same talent level of the past decade, and certainly not the speed of old...and its not coming up the pipeline either. I would also say your point about trouble in DRAGONLAND was a big assumption and way to stir the pot. I saw the TC-Larue game...looked a lot like the same team from last year. Nothing different in scheme on offense from a year ago. Defense was different, but not very good, but that will improve as the kids get the hang of it I am sure...last year they fed 44 the ball and beat Larue, the same thing happened Friday night. TC has won the same games at last year up to this point...but the gauntlet begins for them. Anyway, congrats to the Dragons...I think the most shocked were the Eagles. Good luck to all as the season goes on.
villecoach Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Guess my prediction for this game was more want then possible. I had Campbellsville by 2 or 3 touchdowns. Edited September 25, 2014 by Ram Rule 10
OptionFootball Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Not to beat a dead Horse, but if you are going to say that -1 yard rushing to 548 in a two week period of time for Taylor County is not coaching then someone needs to have a reality check. Taylor has had great players and if I remember correctly won the District just a few years ago, and had chances to Win in the playoffs. Problem is they have been a political program - you play based on who or whom you belong to. Coach Hilton is WINNER and will play people where they need to play so that the team is successful (what building a program is about) not an ego thing for a player or coach, just for the sake of the program.

You do not remember correctly. The won a AA district in 2008. Not this district. 7 years ago. If i'm reading the schedule correctly then they rushed for a lot of yardage vs Larue. In the other games they didn't win they weren't playing Larue.

Good point AllDay, especially in Class 1A where the loss of one or two players changes the whole makeup of a team.

Not beating ANYTHING here. I don't disagree...who said differently? I never said anything about rushing or any other stats-that's all you big fella. Agree, it has always been politics there. My point was simple, they beat a team they did a year ago. Nothing changed in the game plan, give 44 the ball, just the same as a year ago. The end result from last year was the same...a win. In terms of building a program let's see how long he's there. Rumor at the mill is he's already thinking of becoming a Knight! Perhaps you should start a new thread about TC??

GCHS, I would say that for 90% of the programs in the state losing a Division 1 player or 2-3 solid players (Belfry), can certainly have an impact regardless of classification-especially a kid you build your offense around. Good lesson about composure for that young man. The good part, it doesn't cost him a scholarship or anything that is really all that important for that matter. Their goals of a district title and playoff run are still very much intact!!

His actions hurt the team in that they lost a rivalry game, but as you said, they can still make a district push.
