Powell and Coach Lively should have a good season this year. The key to Powell will be Ryan Romans inside and Danny Dennis, Josh Pelfrey, Jon Skidmore, and David Johnson outside.

Coach Ken Jones will have his Lady Pirates ready to invade the "palace" and bring home another championship this year.

Morgan County will have a chance to get a win next week at Powell County.

Two seniors to watch for this year will be Corey Benningfield from Powell County and John Couch from Perry County Central. Benningfield pitched in alot of big games for Powell last year and Couch should be the one of the best pitcher in the 14th again this year.

Estill lost three or four players last season. One starting outfielder and their DH.

Perry Central is the team to beat. Breathitt County should be a solid second. Everyone else a distant third.

Powell lost Muncie (ss, p) King (1b) Snowden (2b, of) Rison (lf) and Halfacre. But they have a player with experience in every position where a player graduated. Muncie was the 1 or 2 pitcher depending on who you talk to. Pitching for Powell next year will be strong with Corey Benningfield, Cory Brewer and Daniel Kinser. Perry Central lost Hardin (3b) and maybe Amis (of). John Couch will be strong on the hill again. That's why these two teams are mentioned alot.

Estill County football has been down for the last few years. It's good to hear that help is on the way for Estill.

Powell needed this win not only for the boost that it gives the players, but for the boost to the coaching staff.

Coach Jewell has some big shoes to fill at Lee County. But coming from Coach Combs' system should help alot. The 56th District will be tough again this year. The two teams that survive will be among the favorites to win the region. Good Luck.

Perry Central lost only one player from last year's team and should be at the top of the 14th along with defending champion Powell County. Lee County and Estill County should also be close to the top. Players to watch should be John Couch from Perry Central, Corey Benningfield, Cory Brewer and Devon Pelfrey from Powell County. Matt Perkins and Matt Eversole of Lee County, and Estill County's whole infield.

Powell should be the favorite to win the 56th again this year. The Lady Pirates lost two players from last year's Champions. Only one of those two got any playing time last year. Owsley should be a distant second followed by Estill and then Lee. imo

The 56th district tournament shoule be in Owsley County. 1. Perry Central 2. June Buchanan 3. Lee County 4. Hazard 5. Powell County Lee County has had Powell's number since the boys were freshmen.

Owsley will be hurting with the loss of Neely, Congleton will have step it up big time to get out of the district. Estill will be solid with Christopher, Berryman, Cackling and Co. Powell is senoir heavy, Romans, Dennis, Johnson, Pelfrey, Skidmore, Martin are all solid. Lee should be the 56th favorite with Brandenburg, Fetters, The Liesegang boys and Johnson

Alot of kids from the 14th will have a chance to play at the next level but not at the division one level. Some of the younger kids will need to develop alot to make it to the division one level.

Good Luck Coach Combs. He goes to Montgomery that has had very good 8th grade teams the last two seasons. He will have some good young talent to mold into his system.

Sad to hear this. Marty had the Indians playing alot better at the end of the year. Good luck to Marty whereever he goes. He is a great person to be around.

Powell could not get players to play under their former coach. Juniors to be had a very good eighth grade team only two played last year. Lets hope that more kids come out to play under Coach Lively.
