Get Off The Track Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I think they will be some good teams in the 14th LEE Co. in paticular. Any other teams you think will do good in the seasons? Any stand out players in the 14th?

Any stand out players in the 14th? I agree that Lee Co. stands out as one of the good teams in particular in the 14th. What does Perry Co. Central have this year? They are always tough. I hear June Buchanan is as well.
GO15AROD Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Perry Central lost only one player from last year's team and should be at the top of the 14th along with defending champion Powell County. Lee County and Estill County should also be close to the top. Players to watch should be John Couch from Perry Central, Corey Benningfield, Cory Brewer and Devon Pelfrey from Powell County. Matt Perkins and Matt Eversole of Lee County, and Estill County's whole infield.

Matt Perkins and Matt Eversole of Lee County, and Estill County's whole infield. Perry should be good, they are always in the hunt. I think this is a down year for Lee County who lost alot of players. Eversole went to Montgomery as well as their head coach. Powell County should be as strong as last year if not stronger. Powell County will not have to start any underclassmen most of their starters are going to be Juinors and Seniors. They will be a very experienced team this year. As for Estill they will be very strong and one of the top teams along with Powell. That should make for some very good 56th district games.
CatchMeIfYouCan Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Leslie County will have a few seniors that will be pretty good in the 14th. Timmy Baker/Catcher Ryan Howard/3rd Base Brian Hubbard/2nd Base Shannon Roberts/Pitcher
Lightning Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Buckhorn should be competitive this season depending on their coaching situation.
Pat Dad Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Perry will probably be the strongest team next season. Lee has a shot, but will have to learn under a new coach. Leslie has a shot. The only thing is that Leslie should have won the region. They squandered chances. And that may carry over into next season. One team that I haven't seen mentioned that may come out as region champs are Letcher Central. I believe that this team will be stronger this coming season. Nobody, including me, gave them a shot at a good season. They proved a lot of people wrong. Knott Central lost three very good players last season. The Patriots will have 5 seniors this upcoming year. The only thing that will hurt KCC is pitching. #1 and #3 pitchers graduated and they will have two strong pitchers returning. A couple of players have been busy in the off season going to camps and showcases. These two should come out as the best hitters on the team.
Lightning Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I think Perry will be the pre season favorite. They return all but one player. Powell will still be tough as will Letcher Central. I wouldn't count out Leslie, Hazard, Knott, Lee, or Estill as well.
MountainMan10 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 The 14th is down this year. Leslie, Powell and Lee lost tons of talent. They return good players, but they will take a step back. Looking at what teams return, Estill and Perry should be the preseason favorites. Estill has almost everything back and they very well could have beaten the eventual champ out of the district last season. Perry is always solid.-- I also think that Letcher will be in the hunt if they can improve their pitching.
Mr.Perfect Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Hazard will have several seniors returning that has played since their soph. yr together-and it always seems that these players get left out of the conversations about who is the best in what pos..These kids have continued yr. after yr. to put up good #'s-take for instance Colby Hoskins(most likely the best all around athlete in the 14th region)plays not only SS and 3rd base he has become one of the better pitchers in the 14th region-his on base % is >500 the last 2Yrs. and batting avg. is > 350 last 2 yrs. and >30 stolen bases.Jared Meehan 2nd base and not only a threat to get on base but also with the long ball.AJ Spare is speedy outfeilder who when he gets his control will be one of the best releivers in the 14th region-I don't know if this is a rival school thing because all you here about is the county school kids or just a oversite of these kids -but these kids deserve their GAME to be recoginized.
TaylorMadeBoy Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Owsley County's Trey Congleton had a bunch of home runs last year and is a good fielder and pitcher too.

I'm with you. Hazard has some good players. Pitching is their achellies (sp) heal, though. Hazard hasn't been in the region tournament in a couple of years. And I'm not really sure that Hazard can make it back this upcoming season. Perry and Leslie will, more than likely, be there. Hazard has some work to do before they are contenders again.
KIDS FAN Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I like PCC and Powell. Both return everybody but one starter. Estill returns a core group of players as does KCC. It is still Powell and PCC's to lose. Will be another good year for parody in the 14th.
YouCantSeeMe Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Why does everyone keep sayin Powell???......I thought they lost almost everybody?
GO15AROD Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Powell lost Muncie (ss, p) King (1b) Snowden (2b, of) Rison (lf) and Halfacre. But they have a player with experience in every position where a player graduated. Muncie was the 1 or 2 pitcher depending on who you talk to. Pitching for Powell next year will be strong with Corey Benningfield, Cory Brewer and Daniel Kinser. Perry Central lost Hardin (3b) and maybe Amis (of). John Couch will be strong on the hill again. That's why these two teams are mentioned alot.
