Based on summer play who do you think will win the 56th District Tourny this season????

Heard that Owsley beat Lee three times by pretty good margins last week at Breathitt Co.

Yea, i heard that too. How is Estill and Powell doing in summer play?

I wouldnt put to much faith in summer play. Alot of players are absent from teams. Summer play is an excellent time to let young players get some expirence.

Owsley also beat Estill at EKU camp this summer I heard without a starter, Sheri Gilbert, she is prolly their best defender. Owlsey is prolly leading in the 56th but I havent heard much about Powell but what I heard isnt anything significant.Kendra Combs is the best player in the 56th by far , just hopes the rest of the team stays together and stays strong. Lee has a nice shooter in the Bowling girl and I cant think of the girl from Estill but she is a really nice player also, has size and a nice jump shot.

Powell should be the favorite to win the 56th again this year. The Lady Pirates lost two players from last year's Champions. Only one of those two got any playing time last year. Owsley should be a distant second followed by Estill and then Lee. imo

Powell should be the favorite to repeat as 56th champions. Owsley is returning 90 percent of their scoring as well as adding a true point guard which should take pressure off of Combs. Lee County will be down losing both Stone and Price but has a good player in Whitney Bowling. Estill lost some players but I think that they return 2 starters plus a guard that lit up the nets agianst Owsley in the 56th tourney.

It should be a good season. That will all be decided at "The Palace" in Booneville during district tourney week.

Did Owsley get a transfer in or another girl starting to play basketball?

They have a 7th grader who transferred from Jessamine County. She's about 5'7, left handed, and very athletic. But she's also very inexperienced. I'm not sure how much varsity action she'll see this year.

However, the Lady Owls have a pretty solid team this year....and they're young (only one senior). I believe the district tournament is held at Owsley county this year, so those predicting a district championship for Powell may be in for a surprise come tournament time.

Coach Ken Jones will have his Lady Pirates ready to invade the "palace" and bring home another championship this year.

I'd say Coach Bates and the Owls will have something to say about that when they start visting pirates try to enter the Palace this year in March.
