This is the best high school team to EVER come out of the 9th region. With that being said, they can still have a mental lapse here and there and next year the only team who can beat Holmes if they were to not bring it in a game would be Highlands. They have 5 starters returning and can match Holmes's size with Grubbs (6'5") Stewart (6'5") Watson and Dill (both about 6'3"-6'4") and Towles is growing like a weed and he's about 6'4" now. If they can slow the game down and get Ricardo and Elijah in foul trouble, beating Holmes wouldnt be a longshot.

I hope all of this does happen for the kid because I'd like nothing more than to see someone from the 9th excel in college ball... I just havent seen him against top pitching...Ill go watch him this summer...I know he plays for Midland which will definitely help in his recruiting since during the school year it is tough for him to recieve such exposure at a small school in Bellevue. Is he a senior/junior? Because if he is a senior most of the major D1 schools have already given out their major scholarships. If he's a junior I'll stick my foot in my mouth! :thumb:

I can do that, but could you please tell me what makes him a top 25 D1 player? I know pedigree means a lot but you definitely need more than that to go to a top D1 school. Mr. Jones is a great kid, and I wish him nothing but I just dont agree with your evaluation of his talent. With all that said...Ill agree to disagree:thumb:

As being someone who has played for this program very recently, I know the coaching staff and players very well and they look at games like this one and the Silver Grove games as must win games, not games they go and celebrate over. And to reply to your part about CovCath not playing the Bellevue type teams, CovCath plays them later this year and even plays Cooper as well. So your statement about CovCath's strength of schedule becomes a dead issue. Also your comment about the attendence, Highlands is on Spring Break as of Friday so of course their attendance at the Calvary game would have been low and the Silver Grove game, well im guessing there would be the same amount of fans at a game if CovCath were to play Silver Grove. This is a team that is learning and by the time the tournament rolls around will have their stuff together. They play good defense, and have good pitching. That's what wins championships.

As raiderbird said, he was required to write something, and regarding gryche11's dancing banana I sense a bit of sarcasm. I know Highlands doesnt consider wins over these teams awesome wins but they are must wins for a team that wants to be considered among the top of the 9th region. And in regard to your comment about the program not being where you thought it was shows that you dont follow this program at all. They have hired a new coach who is all about baseball and will do whatever it takes to get this team in the same discussions as CovCath and Beechwood's baseball programs. Just do a little more research before you make such strong statements.

I'm sorry fellas but I haven't seen anything from Jones to say top 25 D1. OVC seems a lot more accurate here imo.

Nope - Both are superior teams, although Eastern was supposed to blow out Central in the QF game

Elliott County is a great TEAM. They spread it around and don't care who gets the credit... a great story for the people of Sandy Hook. However, they haven't played a team with the athleticism of Holmes.

Don't think he was the best pure athlete on the floor, maybe second.

The difference is that in the earlier game he didn't run the point. If he runs the point tonight and his coach allows him to penetrate when he wants to it will be an entirely different game from the last one.

Ricardo Johnson is the only player in the game tonight that can walk out on the court and say I'm scoring 50 and score 50. If I'm Holmes's coach RJ runs the show tonight. He's mature enough and disciplined enough to dish the ball off if he doesn't get a good shot. Don't be fooled by his scoring numbers, he'll show those tonight that may not be that familiar with him why he's a big time D1 player. Oh by the by he's a better person than he is a basketball player.

As long as Ricardo Johnson plays the point Holmes will have no problem. If he doesn't it could be pretty close.

It will be fun to watch and will probably be decided where it was earlier in the year.

Highlands did dominate the boards 48 to 29. That's just out working your opponent. I guess in this game youth triumphed over experience.

I though St. Henry was the best looking team that played tonight. They're not real quick, but they run a pretty methodical offense and pass the ball exremely well. They also have good size. If NC plays them on Friday like they did tonight they might be in trouble. Winning the District was really huge for NC. They probably got their bad game out of the way.

Hey I like Jackson, but it's kind of hard to believe she was only 50% at best against Highlands when she scored 7 on January 6th when just 4 days later on January 10th she scored 20 against Boone. Either Highlands played pretty good defense on her or she's got one heck of a rehabilitation therapist. Either way I'm glad she's healthy and will be ready to go on Tuesday night.

Heck I forgot about the circus. Well maybe they can get out there as early as they can before the game starts and start firing it up.

Well, we are going from 84' feet to 94'. I'm sure Highlands is going to pressure NDA from the one inch line. That's five more feet to have to get the ball across. On the other hand it may very well affect the stamina of the Highland's defenders.
