Great job by the Lady Crusaders tonight. They won every quarter. They scored the last 4 points of the 2nd quarter to go in up four at the half. They led by 7 (38-31) after the 3rd and they were up by as many as 15 in the fourth quarter, before Ryle turned up the heat to get within six at one point. The Lady Cru did an exceptional job on the boards, and they were for the most part, very patient on the offensive end. This is a signature win for this program. I don't believe they had beat any team ranked in the Top 10 since '06. Abby Janszen was once again phenomenal and was the best player on the floor tonight. Ryle's press did create some turnovers, but for the most part, the Lady Cru did a good job of handling the pressure. Not sure how long it has been since the program could say this, but "the St. Henry Lady Crusaders are playing in the Regional semi-finals!"

I though St. Henry was the best looking team that played tonight. They're not real quick, but they run a pretty methodical offense and pass the ball exremely well. They also have good size. If NC plays them on Friday like they did tonight they might be in trouble. Winning the District was really huge for NC. They probably got their bad game out of the way.

Very surprised at this score, I really thought that Ryle was going to win this one. But St. Henry is a much better team than they were mid- season.

Absolutely right...this is a signature win for the Lady Crusaders. With the right coach in place, and there for more than 2 or 3 years, the Crusaders could be a consistent force not only in their district, but in the region as well.

Congratulations to St Henry. I hated to see the Lady Raiders go down like they did but tonight just wasn't their night. Janszen played an awesome game for St Henry while Cheesman played a great game for the Ryle. Crittendon played hard as well but just struggled a little tonight. Both of these teams will be fun to watch in the next few years!

 

I agree with the others in that the crowd was disappointing. I think playing at the high schools give a much better atmosphere. It almost seemed like just another regular game rather than the regionals.

Second day at State, in Diddle is pretty empty too. I bet the players love playing on the college floor with the big scoreboard and great sound system. Personally I like the BOK for this event. It feels special.
