St. Henry 53 Ryle 42

Featured Replies

Does Ryle run any sort of offense? It looked like they all just stood on the perimeter and penetrated. St. Henry won the coaching battle tonight in a landslide.

Absolutely right...this is a signature win for the Lady Crusaders. With the right coach in place, and there for more than 2 or 3 years, the Crusaders could be a consistent force not only in their district, but in the region as well.

Congratulations to the Lady Cru! Don't settle now...your work is not yet done!!!

Refresh my memory. Wasn't there concern amongst some of the Cru faithful about the coach and his lack of experience?

Congrats to St. Henry! Experience trumps youth!

Congratulations to the Lady Crusaders. They were the better team last night. Tough night for the Lady Raiders. Its hard to beat anyone shooting 22 % for the game. 3 for 20 in the second half. I disagree with paNDA on the BOKC for this tournament. No atmosphere what so ever, too expensive for a family, especially Paul Brown Stadium concession prices. A lot of parents and relative but not many students. I'll take any of the local High School gyms for this type of event. Maybe the boys will fill it up but I doubt that will happen.

When have you ever seen 9400 fans at a Regional girls game? Filling it won't happen. Just get them ready for Diddle for a change. NKY needs some wins in Bowling Green! Schools need to get their students out, whatever happened to PEP rallies AD,s?

Well sure...there is always concerns when a new coach comes in, especially when he doesn't necessarily have the experience you'd like right out of the gate.

If there's anything I've learned during my time coaching it's this: You either connect with the kids and can't coach, can coach but don't connect with the kids, both, or neither. One of those is going to be the case. Finding a coach that hits that magic button of being able to both coach AND connect with/motivate the players is rare...very rare. And over the past several years, St. Henry has not found that coach.

Coach Coburn has certainly started off on a good foot. Not sure the last time the LadyCru were in the Regional Semi-finals. You might have to go back to the Vieth days! Not ready to announce him savior yet but it's exciting to see the girls succeed. With all the success the track, cross-country and soccer teams have, you had to believe there was athletic talent in the school. It's nice to see it maturing on the court.

Either way, NCC is next and the Cru have a HUGE task on their hands.

Not to sound like I donot like girls basketball but ITS GIRLS BASKETBALL .

Congratulations to St Henry. I hated to see the Lady Raiders go down like they did but tonight just wasn't their night. Janszen played an awesome game for St Henry while Cheesman played a great game for the Ryle. Crittendon played hard as well but just struggled a little tonight. Both of these teams will be fun to watch in the next few years!

I agree with the others in that the crowd was disappointing. I think playing at the high schools give a much better atmosphere. It almost seemed like just another regular game rather than the regionals.[/QU I donot want to sound like I dont like girls basketball but IT GIRLS BASKETBALL , slow moving ,fouls everytime down the floor if you wanted to call it , Its just not fun to watch if you donot have a kid in it .

Which makes it an inferior product? I don't know if I understand your comment...

I for one whole-heartedly disagree with your last sentence. I am sure many others will too. I am a basketball fan and enjoy the game at every level.

Ryle has some coaching issues they need to address, it appears they have been outcoached numerous times this year. As far as their offense, the old three point addidage applies "If you live by the three point shot you will certainly die by it sooner or later" Ryle has an extremely talented young team it would be a shame to see them not suceed because the coaching staff doesn't know how to utilize that talant. Good luck next year to the returning players.

Too many head coaches.

If you're a TRUE fan of basketball you embrace the product. The boys foul or travel just about every time down the floor as well, but you're right, the pace is most often times quicker. There are more athletes per team with the boys, but there are some tremendous athletes on the girls side as well, and THEY'RE JUST AS ENJOYABLE TO WATCH, even when they're not your kid.

I truly think Ryle has an issue with their head girls basketball coach also being their head softball coach. Two sports that go back to back. Softball begins 02-15-09. Just wondering if she is a bit distracted. Would be a tall task to be the head coach for both of these sports for anyone.
