Awesome wins !!!!

Awesome with a dancing banana? I just assumed that a baseball program at Highlands would be above considering those awesome..........Guess the baseball program is not where I thought it was.

As raiderbird said, he was required to write something, and regarding gryche11's dancing banana I sense a bit of sarcasm. I know Highlands doesnt consider wins over these teams awesome wins but they are must wins for a team that wants to be considered among the top of the 9th region. And in regard to your comment about the program not being where you thought it was shows that you dont follow this program at all. They have hired a new coach who is all about baseball and will do whatever it takes to get this team in the same discussions as CovCath and Beechwood's baseball programs. Just do a little more research before you make such strong statements.

What research needs to be done? I do not see Covcath playing Silver Grove. I know Highlands is struggling to hit. I know they have lost to the 3 "big schools" they played and have beaten three very small schools (one on a walk off home run although Bellevue has a nice team). So....my opinion is that Highlands I thought might be a strong team but what I have seen so far leads me to believe they have 2 strong starting pitchers and not much hitting. Therefore translating into not being where I thought they might be. Now that can change if they start hitting. However......I also assume I have your permission to develop this educated opinion.

To be completely honest I think it was a great win. These games are basically the "Must Wins." Calvary, usually not known for baseball, has some guys that can play some ball, so it's no surprise to me that Highlands only scored 7 runs. I don't know if the starters played much or maybe some JV guys got some work in, but anytime you can shut-out a team, you've done a great job, no matter who it is. Highlands has a good squad, good coaching, and awesome fans, and anyone who follows Northern Kentucky baseball knows Highlands is a dangerous team with plenty of weapons. Nice win.

Listen I have been to every Highlands game this year and as far as coaching yes excellent and will make the program better. Fans? There might have been 15 people at the Calvary game and less at the Silver Grove game. Did I say they were not dangerous. They have 2 starting pitchers that can compete with anybody.

And the varsity played the games the JV's were someplace else.

However.....my opinion is that they would not consider these games great wins or nice wins rather games that they should win.

As being someone who has played for this program very recently, I know the coaching staff and players very well and they look at games like this one and the Silver Grove games as must win games, not games they go and celebrate over. And to reply to your part about CovCath not playing the Bellevue type teams, CovCath plays them later this year and even plays Cooper as well. So your statement about CovCath's strength of schedule becomes a dead issue. Also your comment about the attendence, Highlands is on Spring Break as of Friday so of course their attendance at the Calvary game would have been low and the Silver Grove game, well im guessing there would be the same amount of fans at a game if CovCath were to play Silver Grove.

This is a team that is learning and by the time the tournament rolls around will have their stuff together. They play good defense, and have good pitching. That's what wins championships.

Jimmy Jr you should really read carefully I said CovCath did not play Silver Grove. So.... your points are more dead issues. I have read your opinions in other threads (Hunter Jones in particular) and it is obvious you need to do more research before making blanket statements.

I have been to all Highlands games this year and none of them had even remotely a decent crowd.

I beg to differ. The season opener against Holy Cross had a pretty decent crowd of Highlands fans. The 2 games this last weekend were down, but spring break was already underway.

What exactly do you consider a decent crowd at a NKY high school game?

If you would have really read my post carefully I said that CovCath plays Bellevue later in the year. A small school team which you claim the size of school CovCath doesnt play this year. I have conducted plenty of research on both topics and stand by decision that Highlands does not look at games vs. Silver Grove, Bellevue, and Calvary Christian big wins. As well as I personally don't think Jones is a top 25 D1 player but I wish him nothing but the best. Thats just my evaluation of his talent.

And regarding to your comment about Highlands' attendence at games, how many fans do you expect to see at a High School baseball game in general let alone a game vs. schools like Bellevue, Silver Grove, or Calvary?

What I meant by this was the attendance for a CovCath baseball game vs. a team like Silver Grove (a.k.a. Bellevue/Cooper) would not have more people attending then if Highlands were playing Bellevue/Cooper.
