  1. Finally some people on here are starting to agree with me that John Wall is just loving this attention. I mean North Carolina Central? Even if it is a favor, who does this guy think he is?
  2. I'd say it goes more like this 35% Coach and system 30% History 35% Championship :thumb:
  3. I dont think your statment about games they've won or how many titles they have does matter is true. But selling your program shows you will win and win titles. So that part does matter.
  4. Lawson was there 3 years. He is going to be a lottery pick imo. Why stay? He did play for the name on the front of his jersey while he was there but you still have to do what is in your best interest as a player. What about the Florida players?
  5. Yes Championships, and Hansbourgh thought he had a better chance that UNC to get one then UK. Looks like he was right. Kids have long lists until the last minute because they love the attention. I mean why trim it down? What positive comes from this?
  6. I didnt say all 4 year guys. I named those guys because they played for the name on the front of their jersey. Who happened to be 4 year players.
  7. Why wouldn't he have put up those numbers at Duke? That is what they lacked this year and thats a big man...
  8. You cant honestly say kids dont play for the name on the front of their jersey anymore. You dont think Hansbourgh or Danny Green played for North Carolina? You think it was all about their stock? Or what about Noah, Horford and Co.? That had nothing to do with wanting to win a championship again? or play for their school for one more season?
  9. I said we also need some one and dones with the 4 year players that are there because of the Blue and White (Mills, Epps, Sheppard, Pa.dgett)
  10. Once we get back to the way it was in the late 90's there will be kids who want to win championships and get to the NBA and Kentucky will be the best school to do that at again.
  11. And he wouldnt have been at Florida? or even Duke?
  12. Which is sad....I think there are still some kids out there like I named in Miller, and Hood. We would field a pretty good team with these types of players but we also need the one and dones (Wall).
  13. Yeah I'd totally disregard this comment....Probably a huge liberal haha...
  14. He grew up like 2 hrs from here. So your saying he came becuase of Gillispie? I doubt that, he was going to come when Tubby was coaching, and came even though he got fired, now he still may be here even after Gillispie was fired? You cant tell me it has nothing to do with playin in Rupp in front of 23000+...
  15. Hood is just forgot to include him. I did in my next reply.:thumb:
  16. College Basketball is changing into the NBDL imo. It's kind of sad really. What has happened to all of the players wanting to come to UK to wear the Blue and White? I think there are still some out there like that...(Hood, Miller, Patterson, Chuck Hayes) These are the true Kentucky guys and they type of guys we need here at UK. Players who know what this school is all about.
  17. You know the kids that decorate their whole bedroom with UK stuff, the ones that bled blue blood, guys like Farmer, Pelphrey, Feldhaus, Mills, Padgett, Hanson, Shepherd, just to name a few. From the description that I am hearing everybody talk about, none of those guys and many others would be considered good enough to be a Wildcat now, maybe Shepherd ? I think Vilarino was one of thsoe guys and could be a loss, because he does have talent and he is/was a Kentucky fan and he wanted to play here because it IS KENTUCKY. You need some one & dones to be a great team, but you also need the ones that have huge hearts and are proud to wear that jersey because of the name on the front of it, not just using it as a stepping stone to the NBA. It will be like this again one day...I know it will.
  18. No the program that once was the greatest in the country is back on the rise to the top again. And these players want to be apart of that. I dont place blame on Wall for taking his time. Its more of what else he could be considering and why the heck he would add North Carolina Central to his list.
  19. I am willing to bet that Walker, Mercer, Anderson, McCarty, Sheppard, etc. took in the fact that UK is the winningest program in histoy into consideration when picking their college choice.
  20. Yes all of the 2009-2010 players are coming because of Calipari but once we get back to the success we had in the late 90's, the program is something that will be a huge sell again.
  21. Yes which consists of the program UK already has.
  22. What I meant by this was that by these kids going to UK and having the success they had there propeled them to the NBA. Yes obviously the coach had something to do with it though, but the coach sells the program to recruits which gets them there and causes success.
  23. Yeah obviously Cousins came because of Calipari. Why else would he come to UK? But Orton? He came because its UK. And didnt leave when Billy did because this is still UK. The name Kentucky still has a lot of weight in kids decisions. And will become bigger very soon. But the coach sells the program. So its a mix of both.
  24. O so they dont see how were the winningest program in history? Or that we have 7 titles? Kentucky being the program it is gets them to the NBA. So you cant have the second part of your statement without the first part.
