  1. Amen...rumors are fun but they are just that.... rumors. Until I see a statement from Mitch himself I'm behind OUR coach Billy Clyde Gillispie.
  2. Congrats Birds....hopefully the first of many wins this year. And it sounds like against a pretty good team.
  3. I would have to disagree. Have you seen the recruits Notre Dame gets year in and year out? They always have amazing recruiting classes but just havent produced they way old Notre Dame teams have produced in years past. Although I think this year Notre Dame will be tough. But hey this is a basketball thread so back to basketball!:thumb:
  4. Kentucky now moves on to face Notre Dame in South Bend @ 7 p.m. on Wednesday...Thoughts/Predictions???
  5. Great call to go off the opposite side off the screen by Meeks. Totally caught the Creighton D off guard.
  6. Were talking about Kentucky Basketball here.... NOT Kentucky Football... They are held to two completely different standards.
  7. Wow...I wonder how much money it would take to steer him away from Memphis? But I highly doubt money will be an issue, even if we have to pay 6million for Gillispie's buyout.
  8. Then why come if you dont like his style of coaching? I know Azubuike didnt leave because of that. He left to bail his father out of prison for banking crimes. Rondo on the other hand saw he was a first round draft pick. It wasn't because they didn't like Tubby's style of play.
  9. True but he did shoot the ball a lot and was pretty unsuccessful. He had to be the scorer for his team and couldn't do that with a future D1 player guarding him. Now I agree these were the only two players on the court that are worth mentioning.
  10. Sheray Thomas actually was pretty highly touted although a tumor behind his knee hindered his whole UK career. I dont know what having a tumor behind your knee is like but that sounds awfully painful. Jason Parker was going to be an absolute monster for UK except for the injuries and boneheaded things he did. The talent was there though. The class of Morris, Rondo, Crawford, and Bradley was a great class. Tubby couldn't forsee 2 of the 4 leaving before their junior year. What really got Tubby was when he had his 2 amazing years (I think 03-04,and 04-05. During these years it seemed like he had forgotten to recruit. And if you look ahead to now, this is why the senior class 2 years ago was awful as well as this years. Being why his last two years at the helm werent up to UK standards. Look we see Tubby can coach, just look at what he's done at Minnesota. (For Minnesota's standards) He's a guy who at Minnesota, will have them in the tourney every year and will range from a 7-11 seed each year imo. Which is great for a school at Minnesota. Translating this to Kentucky, made him a sweet sixteen coach for the most part. These are great standards for most schools. Just not here at Kentucky. So imo it was a great move for him. As well as UK. Now to the topic of UK's head coach, you have to give Billy one more year. He hasnt even gotten his players in yet. We have to be patient as UK because believe me the grass in greener on the other side and next year is the year we get there. Now if your going to get rid of him, I mean if he does get fired, the only two guys for the job are Pitino and Calipari. If Calipari came then Wall would follow and I think Cousins would as well. Which would mean instant success for UK next year. Well only time will tell. GO CATS!:thumb:
  11. Sanford was not at all impressive vs. Holmes imo. As I stated earlier, UK can't start a trend to just go after in-state players because they are in-state. He's a OVC type player is you ask me imo.
  12. I think he's a little quicker then Darius and a better ball handler. Darius although does have a couple inches on him. I'd rather take Ricardo because he plays a foot above the rim. He has NBA potential...just like Darius does. Now if someone can develop these players into what they can be is the question. But UK cant let any more in state players slide out of state or into some other school's lap (Mack, Slaughter, Pettigrew). One thing I will say though is Billy G can't be scared of this happening and go after every in-state player just because they're in state (Euton).
  13. If he came to UK John Wall would sign tommorow and I think most of the players would stay. IMO If he comes, next years starting five is Orton Patterson Miller, Meeks, and Wall. Where would this number 1 seed be playing?
  14. Holmes defense -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is slightly better than Elliott. Holmes 67, Elliott County 58 How's that for a prediction. Off by one point.
  15. Nope - Both are superior teams, although Eastern was supposed to blow out Central in the QF game
  16. Elliott County is a great TEAM. They spread it around and don't care who gets the credit... a great story for the people of Sandy Hook. However, they haven't played a team with the athleticism of Holmes.
  17. Is slightly better than Elliott. Holmes 67, Elliott County 58
  18. I say go the Bobby Knight way and just add an extra game for each team. Make the tournament include 128 teams and hold the first round games at the higher seeds home court. This would end all at large discussions and make for a much more interesting tournament....if what we have now isn't enough. So the way to do this would be to just add a week of games. And I wouldnt complain about seeing more March Madness games.
  19. Think scalping a ticket is a bad idea? I will be in lex that night anyway. So I could show up 10 min before the game started. It usually worked for reg season home games.
  20. That would actually be pretty interesting to see. I wouldn't be against it.
  21. John Calipari come on down!!! He has to be bored with what goes on in the Conference USA every year. He has hit the ceiling when it comes to coaching at Memphis. He should be number one on the coaching list.
  22. Don't think he was the best pure athlete on the floor, maybe second.
  23. The difference is that in the earlier game he didn't run the point. If he runs the point tonight and his coach allows him to penetrate when he wants to it will be an entirely different game from the last one.
  24. Ricardo Johnson is the only player in the game tonight that can walk out on the court and say I'm scoring 50 and score 50. If I'm Holmes's coach RJ runs the show tonight. He's mature enough and disciplined enough to dish the ball off if he doesn't get a good shot. Don't be fooled by his scoring numbers, he'll show those tonight that may not be that familiar with him why he's a big time D1 player. Oh by the by he's a better person than he is a basketball player.
