  1. I like Highlands’s chances. They are very solid and if they play like they're capable they should win it. This will be no cake walk, (no pun intended) and I would expect most games to be very competitive.
  2. I thought Notre Dame really needed this win to get some momentum going into the upcoming tournaments.
  3. UK by 10. This team is finally starting to figure it out and if they can get out early and get Meeks a couple of shots in the first couple minutes, then it should be smooth sailing from there.
  4. This will be the first UK team in a couple years to end the season with less then 10 losses. Mark it down. They win 5 of the next 6. Win the SEC tournament and get a 4-5 seed. That puts them at 26-8 going into the Big Dance.
  5. Hello Athena, I'm sure GPFAN was talking about the refs. The only one that mentioned the mediocre play of your division one studs as you call them was you. I believe Highlands handled Iroquois without a problem, though their best player did not play. The Dunbar game was competitive and the loss to Manuel was by about 20. The AAU team that most of the younger players on Highlands play for waxed your girls this summer in Lexington. So to say that Highlands was lucky to keep it close is not really accurate. You have a good team not a great team. I still say for the last time that your team was fortunate to win Saturday and should be thankful for what were in my opinion three incompetent officials and that the moon and the stars were all perfectly aligned. Maybe we will meet in Bowling Green and can have coke and laugh this off. May you have continued success!
  6. St. Henry has played two quality games against two top 20 schools within the last couple of weeks. Watch out for them!
  7. Well Athena, let's look at schedules. All of the following are ranked in the top 20 BGP recent poll and are teams that Highlands has played or scheduled this year. Iroquois: Scrimmage game. Current Rank #1 Dunbar: Scrimmage game. Current Rank #10 Sacred Heart: Tournament game. Current Rank #7 Manuel: Tournament game: Current Rank #5 Montgomery County: Game cancelled due to weather: Current Rank #2 North Hardin: Game played: Current Rank #4 All of the following are ranked in the top 20 BGP recent poll and are teams that North Hardin has played or scheduled this year that I am aware of. Etown: Ranked 6th Nelson: Ranked 20th Highlands: Ranked 18th To say that we need to get out of the 9th and play some better athletic teams in the state is farsical or maybe even illogical. We've seen the best teams in the state and I can earnestly say that Highlands should have won it, but you are right Athena didn't.
  8. No not being illogical at all. Your team though very athletic didn't play with a lot of discipline this particular game and afforded Highlands several opportunities that for whatever reason Highlands didn't take can't advantage of. Is that illogical? Is it illogical to say that if Highlands would have taken advantage of your teams 14 turnovers the first half there may have been a different outcome? Of course you consider the referee debacle a non issue. Is it illogical to say that if the officials would have called the 20 plus walks committed by your team there would have been a difference in the outcome? Highlands should have won this game and I'm shocked they didn't. Though playing a more athletic team Highlands had opportunities to take advantage of your teams mistakes. Sorry you took this as such a criticism to your team. If I were being critical to anyone it was towards Highlands. They have to get mentally tougher and beat teams that give them the opportunity. Good luck against E-Town!
  9. I don't have a dog in this fight, but Samantha Drake had two Guardian Angles out there on the court yesterday. I think they're called officials. Drake is a very athletic player, but in a competent officiated game Henderson County may very well have won that game. She came over the back of several Henderson County players on several occasions and was not called for it. I noticed the dark haired official discussing a call with fans during the game. When you start seeing that the rest kind of speaks for itself. Again Drake is a very good player. But the protection she was afforded in the game yesterday was pretty obvious. Again I'm a Highlands fan and am unbiased towards either Nelson or Henderson County. Good luck to both teams the remainder of the year.
  10. Highlands and many opportunities to win this game and quite frankly should have won. They were only down three with a couple of minutes left. I have a new found respect for 9th region officials after watching the crew that was out there on Saturday. Katie Allen played great. The Birds had 5 offensive fouls called against them to North Hardin's none. Nevertheless Highlands still should have won the game and should learn many lessons from it. North Hardin is a very athletic team, good luck the rest of the year.
  11. Patterson just has a mild sprain and is day to day. He'll be fine.
  12. Tubby actually started the recruiting process with Patterson and if he had stayed you would have most likely seen Jai Lucas and Patterson together in Rupp. Lucas didnt come because Tubby left but I give props to Gillispie to getting Patterson to still come even though Tubby left.
  13. I scalped a couple of uppers for 20 a piece 10 min before the game, spotted two seats 5 rows up from the florida bench and moved down at halftime! What a game! Having Patterson not in there in the end and still being able to pull off this win will do wonders for the rest of the players not named Meeks or Patterson's game. Im excited to see how we'll do down at Arkansas on Saturday!
  14. You have hit the nail on the head. If I were coaching Holmes I live and die with Ricardo Johnson. I would have him at the point and tell everybody including Pittman to get the heck out of his way. He's very unselfish and could easily dish the ball off. Pittman shot the ball to much in the first half. Holmes players kind of started standing around a little to much. There is a problem with the offense when Ricardo Johnson gets so few good looks. I've never seen such an athletic team stay so far out on the perimeter when running their offense. You had a great win Boone, but I doubt anybody in this region will handle Holmes on the big floor at KY Bank arena. Pittman is a very good player however his level of maturity I could see potentially being the achillis heel for Holmes down the stretch when they're playing the state's best.
  15. Gillispie needs to adjust his coaching style until he gets his players in there. You cant play up tempo when you have players in the lineup who were recruited to play a slower style of play (Tubby). As the first post said, "I am glad he's not sacrificing his methods of success to pick up wins in the short term." I totally disagree with this comment. You have to win now and once you get your players then you can run your system.
  16. John Wall isnt coming to Kentucky. And this has been a long tradition for Kentucky, be in many elite players top 5, but the have virtually none of them ever come to the bluegrass. We wont become a good team until we start getting the great players because Gillispie isnt going to win many games with the players Tubby won games with. We'd have a much better record right now if Tubby was the coach IMO (Just if Tubby actually coached the games).
  17. Did the young lady who was injured the other night for Conner play?
  18. This will be a busy week for the Ladybirds Mon: Holmes Wed: at Ludlow Fri: at Lloyd Sat: at North Hardin
  19. I hope and I think there are more people than me in that gym tonight that realize this kid could have taken the game over tonight on a dime and there's not a darn thing anybody could have done about it. I guess when the time comes he will do his thing.
  20. I agree with what you say about his brother also. I would like to see Ricardo a little more aggressive offensively. When he doesn't shoot others tend to force the issue a little to much at times. In a big game it could be an issue. They're a tremendous team. I thought Highlands did a very good job tonight!
  21. I'm impressed with Ricardo Johnson. He has a calming effect on the rest of the Bulldogs. I think he was out when Highlands made their run in the 3rd quarter. He seems very coachable and besides ability has the demeanor necessary for the next level. I think he will be the key to the Bulldogs winning a state title. He has to stay on the floor.
  22. I'll give them credit. They are a pretty long team and could very easily upset someone in the district or regional tournament.
