With few exceptions Highlands has played this way the entire year. They are not an over powering team, but they do get the job done. They missed Adler who didn't play last night. Let's not forget that no one in the 9th has beaten them yet. Whether you're winning by a little or a lot 19-2 overall and 11-0 in the region isn't too bad at this time of the year. They do the little things to win games. Allen and Towles have been pretty consistant throughout the year. As far as being left at home come tourney time, which tournament are you talking about; District, Regional, State?

They have three division one players. One would hope they would be rather dominant in the All A.

Adler, Conner and McMahon did a great job on Long. This was a solid team effort. They'll need the same effort and more against Montgomery on Tuesday at Highlands.

36th District Draw NewCath vs Bellevue on one side, winner goes to district championship and win or lose on to the regional tournament at U.S. Bank Arena. Newport vs Dayton winner plays Highlands. I expect to see a Highlands v. NCC final at NCC.

Coach Richey would play her daughter if she thought it would make her team better. Clearly she's been playing the girls who are doing that, hence the 16-2 record. It's kind of bizarre that you're making these comments. Either you've been prompted by someone to make these comments or you're simply just trying to stir up trouble. You obviously haven't watched a lot of Highlands girls basketball this year.

I totally disagree that it is to late. I've seen Horner shoot the lights out on several occassions. She has had a tough shooting year up to now. She has to tell herself it's over and that this Friday is a new beginning. Personally I would put her out there this Friday against Newport and tell her to shoot 10 threes. If Highlands is going to beat teams like Montgomery County they'll need Horner to make some shots, which she's more than capable of doing.

The reason Macke should play is that it would simply make Highlands a much better team. She sets picks, rebounds and takes up a lot of space. Her presence with Towles would create match-up nightmares for most teams in the 9th.

They will have to play better to win tomorrow.

I couldn't agree more. Kids dont play baseball because they want to go on Spring Break. It has nothing to do with spring football. Every other school has Spring Break Policies which is plain and simple. You go on Spring Break, you don't play baseball...period. Many of the students at Highlands just dont have the commitment that most schools have. For Highlands to be as successful as the CovCaths and Beechwoods this attitude needs to change.

I would like nothing more then to see CovCath not win the region but when it comes to talent I dont see any teams up there with them. Maile is the best catcher around, Isler is arguably the best 1st baseman and one heck of a pitcher, add Darner, Nutini, and Holocher and thats the most talent around. With that being said, you still got to play the games. We'll just have to wait and see...:thumb:

I've seen Walker listed as a junior on several occasions. I believe she's a senior.

I hate to say it but CovCath should run away with the region this year. They graduated one pitcher in Niehaus and everyone else comes back. No one up here has the power at the plate or fielders to hang with them. I hope Im wrong though. Go Birds!:ylsuper:

Watch for Patrick Towles tonight. He's had if I'm not mistaken 20 points in about 3 of his past 5 games. But good luck to the Birds tonight vs. Holy Cross!

There are a lot of schools out there that are more than just jock schools. I guess when you've had the kinda sports year Covington Catholic has had you gotta fall back on something.

Wow what a game. The Birds were down by 11 late in the 4th. Ryle is for real. They are very athletic. I've never see a more classier group of people. Some of the Ryle players came over after the game and checked on Bekah Towles after the game. Towles was involved in quite a collision with Crittendon. After watching them tonight I wouldn't be suprised to see Ryle in a regional championship.
