  1. Good for Ryle! What was the format of the scrimmage?
  2. I think that's great. I didn't see her on Ryle's roster.
  3. Not real sure if I would agree that it's going to be a good match-up. Whether good or bad the absence of Moss has dropped Ryle's stock quite a bit. Ryle does have some excellent young players, but that probably won't be enough to propel them by a quality team like Montgomery County.
  4. I agree totally. If anyone thinks Josh Conner is healthy they're crazy. As many of you I've watched him play for several years. He looked about 75% to me and was still pretty dominating. Not taking anything away from Bryan Station, but a healthier Conner would have made even a bigger difference in that game last night.

  6. When you base the success of your season on beating one opponent as opposed to the bigger prize of a Championship it really indicates that you just don’t quite have the mentality right now that's necessary to become one of the elite programs in Northern Kentucky. It also indicates your admiration for the Highlands football program, which is nice. Thank you for the compliment and may I suggest raising your expectation level. You speak of demoralization which I'm sure you know means; to erode or destroy the courage, confidence, or hope of a person or group or to corrupt somebody morally. Highlands hasn't lost a game since your demoralizing victory. Obviously the second definition isn't applicable because in order to corrupt someone the person doing the corrupting would be acting immorally, which I'm sure isn't true.
  7. This was their last game. Highlands beat two teams this year that Dixie couldn't handle. That's why their season is over and the Birds are playing on.
  8. I just saw the new Bolus rankings. Does this guy put any effort at all in to this?
  9. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I don't have sour grapes at all. I think the freshman coaching staff at Dixie simply used their team's players in the final moments of the game that was clearly in hand to send a message to the Highland's coaching staff. A message that was well received by the way. I agree with you totally that the fans at Dixie at least from my perspective were cheering in support of the Highland's player who was injured.
  10. There is no reason to beat around the bush about this. This was as "bush league" as it gets. Several have indicated this is "Just desserts". Running a second or third string running back up the middle or off tackle late in the game as Highlands often does is not running up the score if the kid happens to break one off. Taking a play off will get you hurt. I think what some of these posters don't realize is that the football program at Highlands is a family that encompasses all players including freshman. For those that have blown this off as just a "freshman game” have sorely underestimated the closeness that exists between all the players at Highlands. The freshman coaches at Dixie have not only tainted an outstanding performance by their team with "bush league antics", but have cowardly set the tone for a battle for which they are unlikely to be participants in. I'm sure the varsity staff at Dixie really appreciates you guys stepping up like you did.
  11. Congratulations Dixie on an impressive performance. You really dominated both sides of the ball. The halfback pass while you were up 30 something to 12 with a couple of minutes left and the onside kick with 40 seconds left were pretty gutsy calls. You were certainly well within your 1st Amendment football rights to make those calls. But we know speech isn’t really free and there is a price to pay sometimes for what we say or do. You won and you have a good freshman team, but as an old ball coach once said, “Act like you've been there.”
  12. It's no secret what Highlands is going to do. Run, Run, and Run. The Bird's by 2 touchdowns.
  13. Unfortunately for Covington Catholic it wasn’t debate night.
  14. Tonight you saw the difference between the commitment levels of the programs. I noticed the physical differences between the Covington Catholic players and the Highland players. The Highlands players appeared more physically developed and it showed in their performance tonight. This game was won by Highlands in the off season. The dive the Covington Catholic QB took before the first down marker said it all.
  15. I like the Trapp kid. He's a hard nosed football player. Why wouldn't you put Towles out there on offense and let him catch a ball if he's not going to QB. Heck he's 6'2 and I assume runs ok if he plays safety.
  16. To insinuate that the inefficiency of the Highlands passing game last night or for that matter last week is some how do to the receivers not running their routes appropriately or not coming back for balls is a bit reaching. I watched both Sheehan and Merrill run their routes last night. Both did a pretty good job.
  17. I watched CCH play Newport last Saturday. Cov Cath's Achilles heel is their lack of speed. They are big up front, but once you get by the big guys you're off to the races. Newport looked somewhat disorganized but were able to score because of a couple of very athletic players. Highlands has several of these athletes and if they stay on the ground should win this by three touchdowns.
  18. Well this sounds silly, but it's the truth. If they don't draw Highlands in the first round of the district they'll go to the region and have a chance to make it to the state tournament. Good luck NCC in 08/09!
  19. Prior to the Highlands varsity scrimmage at Male I watched the freshman scrimmage. Highlands has a big kid playing safety that will light you up.
  20. I dont think getting by Conner this year will be their problem. Highlands will be very tough for them.
