Size has never really been an issue with CCH. Actually their size has been pretty impressive. IMO it's their explosiveness off the ball that's really been their achilles heel.

Since Ryle and Boone have to be on opposite sides of the Regional bracket, NCC's path to the Regional title will have to go through them both, assuming of course Boone and Ryle win their 1st round games or NCC plays Ryle in the 1st round. Good luck to all teams remaining. It would be a huge upset for anyone other than Boone, Ryle, or NCC to win the Region. Given the past upsets in the 9th, I'm picking Ryle to cut down the nets.

jumpball - Really, REALLY a shame that one of them must sit out the regional! Both teams have been in the top 25 in the state much of the year! So, what other team is likely to go on from that district? Bellevue beat Newport last night for a berth in the District Championship on Friday night.

I was joking when I made the comment. My comment was directed at the poster who said that Boone Ryle and NCC have a legitimate chance to win the 9th. "Panda" asked about Highlands and the poster said his opinion was based on recent play. Hence my comment.

Even if Highlands isn't as strong as last year, a win over Ryle at Ryle and a squeeker loss against NC at NC puts them in the hunt. I wouldn't want to play them in order to get to the region. Ryle should get by NC.

Courier-Journal Litkenhous Girls' Basketball Ratings had Ryle ranked ahead of Highlands. I guess this was somewhat of an upset?

Both of the big post players played well tonight.

Highlands strapped on their football helmets in the second quarter and turned it into a real physical game which didn't bode well for NC. Grubbs demonstrated that he's the man the 36th District. The technical foul called against Watson was a complete joke!

Both teams last showed some of their strengths and weaknesses last night. If I play NC I zone the entire game. Sandfoss is a JC Bradley type of penetrator and when she does it she makes everybody on her team better. Highlands placed a taller girl out on the point and it created some problems for NC offensively. Their strength is defense. All their guards apply very good pressure. I thought NC had trouble with Highlands inside last night. Highlands needs to continue pound it inside. The Birds definitely have to work on their press offense. NC did a great job when they pressed. All in all on a neutral court the next game will be a barn burner. If I’m NC I press to the cows come home. If I’m Highlands I zone and pound it inside to 14. Like others I just hope this isn’t the opening game in the district tournament.

This should be a very entertaining game to watch this Friday in Newport. If the Birds can duplicate their effort they had on Monday they'll have a good shot.

I thought Highlands would have already made it by now. This region is really up for grabs. There are some front runners, but the reality is that on a given night anyone could win. Your pictures were great as usual.:thumb:

Final Score. Highlands was very balanced tonight. The Lady Birds passed the ball extremely well. The future is bright for the Pandas. Their freshman team has some players!

Notre Dame has very good team and the new coach is doing a very good job. I think the Birds two 1000 point scorers will be a little to much for the Pandas. The Pandas future is very bright. Highlands by about 10 or so.

He will not be playing today or for the entire tournament.

For all the film watchers. Have you ever been to a horse race and watched a horse win by 10 lengths and say, "wow what a horse." After the race you learned the horse ran in a $5000 claiming race. You watch the horse run again a couple of weeks of later in a stakes race and he finishes near the end. I know it’s desirable to be politically correct on here and I appreciate that, but the realities are is that John Hardin hasn't lined up across a Schlosser, Combs, Beck, Grubbs, Meyer, and Welz. They haven't faced runners like Collinsworth, Bardo, and my favorite Fennell. And oh yea and young inexperienced QB who can throw it about 60 yards. John Hardin hasn't faced a linebacker like Brandon Roller who will knock your teeth out and offer his hand to pick you up off the ground. Some say he does that because he's such a nice boy. I say he does it because he can't wait to do it again. John Hardin hasn't faced corners like Abner and Bruns who make you pay for every catch or a safety like Rosenhagen. Most importantly John Hardin hasn't faced the so very many that I failed to mention. The many who will have given the last 11 months of their lives to get on that field Friday night for one play and say it was worth of every bit of it. So Highland’s fans don't get to enamored with tape other than seeing what formations the other team may use. Instead remember who your personnel are and the dedication they've demonstrated over nearly the last year. This team has played and beaten the very best. I assure all that there will be a Highlands victory Friday night. By how much? Who cares! If you ever start to doubt or waiver just say to yourself "Roller, Collinsworth," and then you'll quickly come back to reality. Safe travels for all Friday night!
