Defensive battle. Cumpston gets the win for FC. He had very good control hitting his spots and getting some solid defense behind him. Willis scores from second for FC on a single to left by Ryan Conner. West Jess had one real good opportunity with men on second and third and two outs. Cumpston got the West Jess batter to fly out to end the inning. Solid seven inning pitching effort by Cumpston!!!!!

I definately agree with this. The most difficult thing in Frankfort/Franklin County is the fact that their are three high schools. The talent is spread too thin to compete in the 11th. You have to build a program that makes kids want to attend your school, in order to get the talent. No different philosophy than what Lex Cath and Scott County implement. Very difficult to do from out of town.

Sorry about that, it was pretty late when the game concluded. Many of the FC folks didn't get back to Frankfort until 2:30 in the morning. Good win for the Flyers!!!!

Solid 7 inning pitching effort by Sean Thompson. Lou Male gets 3 runs in the top of the 7th well after the midnight hour. Thompson stikes out the last two batters to end the game.

The Hicks name would bring top players. He is high profile and I believe I read somewhere that he learned quite a bit from Bobby Keith when he coached against him.

I thought Lex Cath won Region 11 the last two years?????

He has played mostly point since 6th grade, although he did split time with Meyer last season. The rating gurus may not have him on there radar but I know for a fact that several d1's have him on their radar.

I hear Vance Hall from Franklin County is making a little noise these days. He is a solid 6'3" now and might be pushing 6'4". Hear he put up 23 in a recent game where top juniors from around the state were invited (a performance that caught Murray State's interest). Also heard he dunked on a couple of guys in a recent AAU game. I'm just incredulous that Bolus or any of these other ranking gurus don't have him on their radar screen.

Where is he from and what type of player is he?

Justice does have very good ball skills. First time I saw him play was as a fifth grader. I don't think his ball skills are any better than Polson's.

He is #21. Clark should be very very good. Hope Purvis comes back healthy.

Another guard that should have gotten at least honorable mention is Vance Hall of Franklin County. He was a top player on their team last season playing a very tough schedule. This kid will play College ball somewhere. He has been getting interest since last summer. He will prove himself on the AAU circuit this summer.

I can't disagree with your assessment of Guyn, I would just prefer to have Polson on my team. His ball skills are argueably the best in the state. Many will agree with me that he can get to the rim any time he wants, and if you foul him he makes you pay at the free throw line. He is a one man press breaker. He proved that against Lex Cath when he put up 51 points against Catholic's 2-2-1 Red press with Beckham and Sanford on the front line. West Jess got the marquee win. That performance alone should have earned him honorable mention at a minimum. He is fun to watch and makes all his teamates better. Guyn and Polson are very good and different players. It is just a matter of opinion which you prefer. It would be interesting to see them go against one another although Guyn has much more talent around him. What would Polson be if he had that kind of talent on his team?

Polson from West Jessamine was also left off the Courier list entirely. Quite frankly I would take him on my team before Ge'lawn Guyn any day of the week. He is a smarter player with much better ball skills and is deceptively athletic.

He being left out is a joke!!!! Aurgument could be made for others not getting honorable mention as well, but that could be said every year.

I definately agree with this statement. Polson is deceptively athletic. He will lull you to sleep, then blow by and finish at the rim. In my opinion his ball skills are better than any of the guards on the Bolus list. He is an absolute majician with the basketball. He single handidly had the quickness of Louisville Central on their heals the entire game in the sweet 16 semis.

Zollo has a big upside just finishing his sophmore season. He could grow more and will no doubt get stronger. I think he has more potential to improve than Euton.

It looked like Central had all 5 guys with an eye on Polson, basically he was going 1 against 5 and doing pretty well. Didn't he go up against the same players Holmes did? IMO he was the best ball handler in the tournament and definately the most illusive. He made teams play at his tempo.
