Any word on Beaumont? H? I noticed some fresh tape on both ankles after half time and he had a gingerness to his walk back and forth from the huddle. He still looked great on the TD catch and run (up the Male sideline) that got called back. Definitely touched the ball less in the second half, although he DID stay in the game that was probably just to keep the defense honest.

I will bet they are, as are many others in the state. Good luck this year and may the best teams advance!:thumb: We played Meade county about mid-season and they were minus a starter at FB and LB. They still played a very tough game and from the looks of it have gotten better as the year progressed. They are tough (as always) against the run. We all know what a road trip does to a teenager's state of mind at game time so that would be the big question. Will they step off the bus ready ? Or not ?

I will agree, the only thing better would be chili dogs and cold beer !!! The Meade County to Ryle and Trinity to Male scenario is an oxymoron of epic proportions. Saving travel ? HAHA ! Wait until next year when teams are galloping across the state to fill district AND non district schedules. KHSAA = BRILLIANT !!! :ylsuper:

Give me a count on how many times that Trinity plays on the artificial surface each season and how many times Male does. (Let alone how many time they each play in PJCS) Forget it, Male should stay at HOME regardless!!! Both teams will have to play on the same field so (in the event of rain and sloppy field conditions) a passing attack by Trinity would be slowed equally as a running game by Male. I have seen both St. X - Male contests and what Male "did not do" in the second half was more of a factor than the actual field conditions. They almost made the same mistake again last night in the second half as they opened up and tried an option pitch that they did not even try in the first half. Also, a noticeable limiting of Beaumont touching the ball out of the backfield led to some stalled drives.

Only IF there is a torrential rain before and during the game. I stated in another thread that neither team has played a team like the other yet this season and both will have tests friday night. If Beaumont is 100% I think Male will win by 4-7 points say 35-28 or 35-31.

:confused: What ? Most any season is quite the opposite, if St. X plays a bad game, it is early and they usually get redemption. This was a unique season from what I could tell, St. X seemed to get a lot out of what they had on the field. That is not a "jab" by any means. They have graduated many great players in the past 2 seasons. They have the luxury of having "numbers" to reload, they just are not up to the same level.....yet!!! For the record, I have said most of this season that Trinity would be the only team in this area to give Male a solid contest. The balance on offense (effective run and pass offense) will be a test for Male. Many opportunities to pass deep on them......if you can execute. The more shots you take and can run their players deep with the receivers then they will eventually tire down. Don't sell them short because those kids can play and dig deep to win. I had predicted a 3 TD win for Male earlier this week (not on this board) and I think that Beaumont seemed to be hampered in the second half or it may have been a little more. I will predict a very close game this week and if Beaumont is 100% a 35-28 game for Male. Don't forget, Trinity has not played a team quite like Male this season. Male's defense can cause a few problems of it's own and Trinity's defense will need to stop Male's weapons. Where have you been pldgrtno2 ?

I think you are missing the point of this...badly. How many kids can you transport to and from school that do not play sports? Making these offers before a student even enrolls or resides in the district is very much a recruitment tool. I think the money that Nease got through the high profile games against the out-of-state powerhouse teams probably helped cover the costs of these illegal activities. Television money is the root of some of this evil. TV is very good for promoting the high powered teams but really seperates those teams from all others and opens the door to "do whatever it takes" to get the elite players into those schools. Think about the "Two-a-days" program about Hoover (AL) High School, I have actually heard some people in this state talking nonsense about wanting their kids to go there. Seriously!!! I do agree that the more these things are allowed, the worse these things get. Always somebody, somewhere who will push the limits and get by with it.

Sounds to me that a lot of people expect St. X to make the changes to win this game and Male to not do anything different. In the first game, the conditions changed and the results were effected. The ability to scramble was hampered dy deteriorating field conditions as well as a change in the approach St. X took in rushing the QB. The game plan will be key and I would bet that the same deep balls that were completed by St. X may be a little harder to come by this time around, IF Male makes some adjustments on D. All things considered, I believe Male wins this one like they Should have won the first meeting. Male - 35 St. X - 20

This was very noticeable from the second he stepped off the bus and I DID notice one other player who had cleats slightly more noticeable than the rest of the team. I do not think efforts to "justify" this would be so strong IF the ploy was not so objectionable. I had always respected the uniformity of St. X because it always spoke volumes about their discipline, maybe this shows a "changing of " emphasis by the staff. Did this make a difference in the game for either team? NO! I do agree with others who have stated that the player in question does not need to do anything to draw attention to himself other than play his game. Maybe the staff has more battles to fight with the obvious problems in the kicking game that will cause major problems until rectified. Uncharacteristic of ANY St. Xavier team I have EVER seen. Manual players, on the other hand, do not chose to play with jerseys untucked, there are some that are just not long enough to remain tucked even through pre game. The tape on the facemask thing is something I always objected to and had players remove whenever I saw it (on any team I have been with). I will agree that if players choose to wear gloves or armbands they as well should be of uniform colors. I, personally, do not think any other player could have pulled that move off over the staff! I think that may be the point, what does this lead to?

The fact that officials all call things a little differently (even if they should not) plays into this. Alot of officials familiar with certain teams will "allow" a few "minor" infractions to go uncalled. A player leaving the huddle a little late running to the sideline is common when playing locally. Officials from out in the state calling games here in Louisville seem to jump on that call as they well should.

warhawk68 ans mellowe4, good to see you posting about this. I think that one thing people are overlooking is the fact that this team is even here in this position. This team has improved every week and with the exception of a setback against St. X and Male (top 2 teams in the state), they have played well. Coach Nichols is constantly blasted for "big game meltdowns", blah, blah, blah, but not many are giving him and the staff any credit for rebounding this season with a feisty young team. Will there be mistakes made on the field and on the sideline? Probably so, with a young team sometimes they do not do the things you ask them to do or you KNOW they can do. This will be an interesting game and a few may even be surprised by the outcome. .

By the way, Male players made a few BIG plays to get the ball into FG range. Imagine that!!!

This one was made after "Malegate":D QB gets contacted "in bounds" then falls out of bounds with NO timeouts remaining. Male scrambles the FG team onto the field but clock is stopped!!!:confused: FG team lines up after a delay in spotting the ball and gets a delay of game penalty. Moves the ball back 5 yards and .....it's good! UNREAL!!!:creepy:

It is more of a respectful hatred on my part. Of course it is really hard to swallow any loss to Male. The fashion in which the last two losses have occurred really makes it harder to accept. Sounds like there might be a Fangman II at Male now with the PAT kick made under the conditions the place kicker made the PAT versus St.X.
