I would expect a close game........this match up has always been a different kind of rivalry.....

Now we are getting somewhere...I will go on record as saying "I agree with you 100%". :thumb: I also think that your description is like advantage/disadvantage...if it does not have an affect on the play or force a turnover, let it go. But if it gets nasty inside where the big-boys play, clean it up. Is it fair to say that we are now seeing eye-to-eye? :creepy:

I personally would like to see basketball go back to being officiated like the old days, when it was referred to as a non-contact sport. Then it would be much easier for the refs to be more consistent... When there are a bunch of fouls called, refs hear, let them play....when someone gets fouled hard the refs hear, you better call something before someone gets hurt. It looks like to me that people are inconsistent about the way the game should be called. I guess thats part of it, who knows?

Please enlighten us as to what makes these men such poor officials.....I am certain they would love some input from a knowledgeable fan such as yourself.

Just for kicks I DID ask him.......Bob says he has not worked a single JV game in KY this season. Not sure where you get your facts but you better double check. I also spoke to the President of the local officials association about the number of officials. He (Steve Greenhill) indicated that their numbers were up from previous years by a good amount. He did say that a few "Varsity" officials have worked some lower level games but it could be for a variety of reasons. He also said that the association goes by the rule that if you are a member then you work whatever level game you are assigned....your not just a "Varsity" official or just a "Junior Varsity" official.....you are a NEKBOA official.

hoops gal you are wrong about Mr Billman...he is from Vanceburg which is in Lewis County.....Since you have so much confidence in your remarks such as "the fact remains that lots of veteran officials are doing JV games this year.", then please list 5 or 6 veterans that are doing JV games this year.

Please re-read the first post. A Technical was called. Not a Intentional Flagrant Technical. The wording counts here. If the word "Flagrant" is in the penalty that means "Ejection" There are Unsporting Technicals Flagrant Technicals Double Unsporting Technicals and Double Flagrant Technicals. If the player is jumping out of bounds and throws the ball off of an opponent it is usually just a violation and the ball is awarded to the team that did not hit it before it went out of bounds. If there was a Technical Called, it was probably a judgement call by the official that the opponent tried to intentionally hit the opposing team in the face or something like that and ruled unsporting behavior. I have never seen a technical called for this type of play because 99.9% of the time it is a hustle play and the person trying to save the ball in bounds has no idea where the ball will land when they throw it at a player.

Let's rewind to the last hiring, was any of the following considered? Scott Floyd Tim Veach Mike Diller Tim Fraley Clay Euton Nathan Sutton Jason Smith All of whom are head coach's or assistant coach's in the 16th Region, all of which are Greenup Alumni and all of which are former basketball players at Greenup. What is left to say...why would anyone(Greenup) want to let quality people like this go some place else(Raceland)(Rose Hill) then come back and beat you later...don't loose two more that are on the staff now and add to this fantastic plan that keeps hitting GCHS right in the jaw. Hire Sutton and make Smith his assistant before someone else does.

As all coach's will tell you, a guard is more likely to get fouled when he drives to the basket then he would if he just shoots jump shots...this should also be pretty easy for a basketball fan like yourself to figure out as well. According to the paper, Fairview had more fouls called on them then Boyd did. Maybe that's because Fairview fouled the most. Fairview also shot less free-throws then Boyd. These are all facts! Facts are hard to argue...pointing fingers at the refs is a very easy-:cry:- way to make a person feel better.

Sportsmanship: The title says it all...for the past five years, in the state of Kentucky, it has been a requirement for the public address announcer to read the sportsmanship card prior to every game. It is also a requirement for the Referee to read this same card during the meeting of Captains and Coach's prior to the game at center court. The sportmanship card specifically says, no taunting and baiting, no trash talking etc... Now for those of you who have never officiated on the floor(the stands do not count), for those of you that have never read a rule book, for those of you that have never been to a state rules clinic, etc... Here is the definition of Taunting and Baiting: 1. A player can not pull and tug on his uniform toward the opposition or any of the fans! 2. A player can not scream and yell after making a terrific play that brings attention to him or her. 3. A player can not charge toward the opposition in a threatening manner (contact or not)! 4. A player can not point at a player from the opposing team! 5. A player can not curse! 6. A player can not do anything that would entice the opponent to react! Why? Let's just say a player does any of these acts and the refs do not enforce the rule with a "T", and the opponent gets mad and starts a fight...now guess what happens...both players are ejected and must sit out the next game. It would be so much better for the game and everyone involved if the unsportmanship technical was called when the rule was broken and prevent something worse from happening. Remember, no matter if your a player, a ref or a fan, just be a good sport...it's a game, not life or death!

Thank you oldrambler for the jokkingly manner, I am always quick to defend officials for what they try to do. I think we often take our frustrations in life out on them for doing a thankless job and this holiday season they are spending more time getting screamed at and less time with their family's. Good luck oldrambler and I hope you, all student athletes, school admininstrators and the refs have a very merry CHRISTmas. P.S. GO Radio is the best in the Business.

What makes you believe this? That's pretty impressive judgement for someone who was not at the game and a unique concept for voting for the All Tournament team.

Go back and read the article on the Super 7, it said Fairview defeated Bracken County on Friday...they did not play and was not scheduled to play. Adam Vankirk went on to say in his article that the Eagles are 3-1 which is impossible, they have only played 3 games thus far, in the 07 - 08 season. Fairview has beaten Greenup, they have beaten Green Ohio and lost to Rose Hill. A first grader can do this math. It would be nice if the Daily Independent made sure they got the simple facts correct before they write an article. No wonder Mr. Vankirk gets upset about things said on BGP.

It seems like Raceland has played 12 straight days.
