Rumors are swirling that Greenup County's leading scorer has been kicked off team.....can anyone confirm or deny?

This would be a BIG loss for Greenup.

I wonder if the coach regrets his decision to take this position? I also wonder if he decides to depart what is in store for GC after that?

Rumors are true from talking to friends at GC. However, sometimes your leading scorer is not your best player. Teams can get better after losing a player. I also respect coaches who do the right thing. For instance when the Lady Devils lost a few players acouple years ago Coach Kidwell IMO did the right thing for the others on the team because their attitudes were better and they still had a great deal of success. Coaches make too little to spend too much time and personal money to be treated that way by a teenager. Sometimes it makes you better. If coach Leach can handle this situation as the same class of Coach Kidwell then he still may be able to make GC a successful program again. Character Counts!!!!

True, this is one of the worst seasons GC basketball has seen. Getting beat by 30 or 40 points is just not acceptable. Get out of the kitchen if it is too hot!

Confirmed, about the dismissal of the high point man.

Any more news on that smooth move.

Did anyone notice how many Greenup County Alumni were on Racelands bench. (3 of the 5)

You are kidding right? Rumor also has it that some of the boys were seen out with this player last night. They are supportive of him. These boys are friends on and off the court.

No not kidding! Honestly if your getting beat by 30- 40 with him and his attitude is horrible, then why not boot him off? You certainly weren't winning with him and your probably not going to start without him. GC has some nice young talent to develop. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Leading scorers can be CANCEROUS! The leading scorer played against Raceland the other night and the Muskies lost big . Is he really going to help them win 4 or five more games? Really it probably makes little difference!

Maybe a coach with Greenup roots and played for the program would be a good choice at some point and time.

There are at least three right in the 16th Region right now.

We read about problems with Greenup's football team this fall with players being kicked off the team and parents being in an uproar over the coach's discipline technique. Now we hear of players quitting the basketball team within the last 2 weeks and 1 being dismissed for disrespect.

Why would anyone want to be a part of any of their sports programs??? The more I see and hear, it becomes more obvious to me that the problems down there goes much deeper than who the coach is. IMO, the parents and kids are out of control and you have the "inmates trying to run the asylum." The parents need to set a better example and the kids need to learn some respect.

There's a common thread that runs through the continued poblems at GC and since the coaches are not the same for every sport we hear about problems with, it becomes difficult to always think that they are the problem there. Hmmmmm??

Let me add to my previous post that I am not necessarily saying that the coaches are always right in the ways that they handle things either but my point is you cannot have problems in different sports with different coaches and there not be a bigger underlying problem.

Maybe Greenup should hire a coach that is related to and has coached under one of the winniest active coaches in KHSAA history.....hold on they already ran him off....

Winniest?

You mean winningest or whiniest?
