Isn't this kid's dad the one that was kicked out of the Boyd County -Greenup County playoff game this year? It all starts at home my friends.

We read about problems with Greenup's football team this fall with players being kicked off the team and parents being in an uproar over the coach's discipline technique. Now we hear of players quitting the basketball team within the last 2 weeks and 1 being dismissed for disrespect.

 

Why would anyone want to be a part of any of their sports programs??? The more I see and hear, it becomes more obvious to me that the problems down there goes much deeper than who the coach is. IMO, the parents and kids are out of control and you have the "inmates trying to run the asylum." The parents need to set a better example and the kids need to learn some respect.

 

There's a common thread that runs through the continued poblems at GC and since the coaches are not the same for every sport we hear about problems with, it becomes difficult to always think that they are the problem there. Hmmmmm??

This was an isolated incident. Althouth I do not know him as a personal friend, any person who knows Bob Craft knows he is an outstanding individual.

Stressful or emotional situations often bring out the best and worst in people. Kids usually model what they see at home.

There are parents that are trying to live their glory years and try to be a "player" themselves including the Mom's and there are parents that work in any capacity they can - concession stands, split the pot, programs, flags whatever - because all they want to do is to support their son and his activities. Please don't throw out the "baby with the wash" when you say "all parents are like the few".

Some of us just want to support and stand by our kid as a team player not the star - the last time I checked on the basketball court you need 5 players to start - usually 12 on the team and 11 football players to start with at least 40 more to be on the team.

:lol: Certainly do and always have had and probably always will have. That goes for Boys and Girls coaches and a lot of the fans at various places.

I do not know or claim to know this paticular situation. I will say that having been personally involved with some coaches and programs in the past and that I respect coaches decisions untill or unless extreme circumstances prove otherwise about the coach ( I have known of a couple of those as well).

My reasons for this are that most do not know what goes on in practice, what the attitudes are like and who is doing (or not doing) what. A coach see and works with his or her players every day and knows better than anyone what they feel is best for their team. NO coach is going to go out and purposely lose a game. NO coach wants to lose as well as no player wants to lose (or shouldn't). I guess what I am trying to say is that a coach knows their team better than anyone. They (coach) can get a feel of what problems are there if any and the cause of them. Coaches have to think "Team" first.

Like I said, I have no idea on this paticular situation and do not claim to. I am just saying that usually there are certain things that are being told that can be twisted and they take off from there. A coach is going to do (and should) what ever they think is best for the team overall, as a coach you have to set certain rules and those rules apply to everyone form a starter/star down to the last one on the bench. Without dicipline, you have nothing.

JMO and these are my feelings in general and they go for anywhere with any sport, I just feel that the first person that anyone wants to blame is a coach, makes it easier for them to justify their own feelings and "so called knowledge" of a situation.

 

I hope that GCHS can get whatever problems that they have taken care of. The GCHS kids (and it is all about the kids) deserve it and w/o negative interference from wherever it is coming from.

I hate Eastern Kentucky!!! Not really. I do hate the "good 'ol boy" mentality of the area, though. Anyone not from the area will never get a fair chance at Greenup. I've known Coach Leach for a while and he is a great guy and coach. He runs an exciting style that is fun to watch, when the right guys are there to run it. His Kentucky Christian University teams were VERY fun to watch and also successful. Unfortunately, there just isn't the talent at Greenup. Anyone who blames Coach Leach for the Muskies season is ignorant to basketball and I will be happy to tell them that to them in person. Coach Leach is charismatic and great with kids. I just think the previous regime at Greenup has soured a lot of players, parents, and fans and given them the idea that they run the joint. Greenup needs to lighten up and realize there just isn't the talent this year as in the past. Sounds like a situation going on about 120 miles west down I-64 at a certain institution.
