Fans and Coach’s expect officials to be perfect then get better. I’ve seen officials miss calls but I’ve never seen officials cheat. I’ve seen players miss free throws and I’ve never seen officials yell at players. I’ve seen coach’s not call a timeout when opposition is on a 12-0 run and the officials didn’t yell at the coach to call time out. At the end of the day, officials need to realize that they must work to get better and players need to practice to get better. It’s also important that fans need to realize that this state has lost over 800 officials in the last 5 years. Why?? Because they get verbally abused by the media, the fans and the coach’s. Until this changes, we will never see referee associations grow. Way more critics then officials. It’s the society we live in. Entitlement!!!
Dicky is more fun to listen to when his team is winning.
“Clock operator is awful”
“Referee is bad”
“Matney scoring late is ridiculous”
Hope I live long enough to hear him compliment someone.
In thread 4 you said he took a charge...Now you say he blocked a shot. That is my point. Umpires, referees, baseball players, basketball players and everyone breathing including you, make mistakes. It is what it is!
Ballhawk, please ask someone else that was there why Jackson got a technical. You were completely wrong. He blocked a shot out of bounds then started yelling. Big difference in your story. Rule book says that type of behavior "bringing attention to yourself" is a unsportsmanlike technical. When criticizing Refs, at least state the facts.
"why was there only two officials assigned to this game?
Everything was done correctly as the rule book indicates in this play in regarding the loose ball and injured player.
Blue should have the ball following the kick by the white team. Throw in should take place on the baseline
Basketball is more physical then Mr. Naismith intended. How physical a game is going to be is usually determined in the early part of the first quarter. This is determined by the striped shirts. Once this is determined, then both teams have the following options:
1) Adjust
2) Foul Out
3) Quit Fouling
If the refs are letting them play physical - then play physical
If the refs are calling every touch foul - then quit touching
If your team does not adjust and continues to be called for fouls - then guess what - the other team is going to shoot more Free Throws.
Pretty Simple!
