Correction to bold: In high school, if an airborne shooter releases the ball and runs over or through an opposing player and a charge(player control foul) is called, the shot does not count. THIS IS A PLAYER CONTROL FOUL! However, if the shooter comes back to the floor after the shot was taken and then runs into the defense, a charge/push can be called, with the points awarded. THIS IS A CHARGE AND NOT A PLAYER CONTROL FOUL! Another poster said that the defense had to have their feet set...NOT SO... This was changed a few years back. The defense can be moving...For instance...if a defensive player is back peddling and in legal gaurding position and the offensive player kicks it in to a higher speed and runs through the defense or drops a shoulder in order to dis-lodge a defensive player...this is also a player control foul if the offensive player has the ball in their control. Hope this helps.

Thank you, I understand...BUT...has anyone also considered that the strength of the schedules for the past month and now through February is also being discussed by Region and Districts...Not Classes. Let's not forget that Rose Hill is a Class "A" School that has played a monsterous schedule. I would venture to say that there are not many Class "A" schools in the 16th Region and maybe the State that has played a tougher schedule to date then Rose Hill has;)

For what it is worth and I think this will make some sense if everyone reads this slowly: When you have two officials working a game, it is very difficult to focus on shirts out of pants. There are four eyes watching ten players. Games are played at a faster pace and there is so much movement with the ball and without the ball (like screening, crashing the boards, etc...) that two officials have to much to watch for then untucked shirts. However, when you have three officials, you are adding a pair of eyes. This allows for more to be seen and the untucked shirt will be easier to notice. Just my 2-cents worth.

Does this mean your team was not in the Championship or that you would like to see more "Queens" (ladies) officiate the tournament? Does the King of the Bluegrass have the best officials in the state? Not sure I am following you.

Selby...(The 16th Regions version of Charles Barkley...only he can't dunk) Honorable mention: Burge...(the reason East is winning) Ferguson...(Needs help in the post so he can play in-side and out) 2 Faulkners...If they are hitting...someone is loosing to them) Blair...(Mr. Sacrifice, he helps his teammates stats) etc...

Has anybody seen who Russell and Ashland have remaining on their schedules? -And- has anyone compared Russell and Ashlands schedules thus far to the likes of Wiremans Vikings? Lastly, has anyone played more road games thus far then Ashland (the most) and Russell might not be far behind (as far as away games go). Rose Hill might be right there with Russell in road games. Someone should start a Strength of Schedule thread for the 16th and update it each week following the release of the "Great" Cubsters Ratings.

You are exactly right. The training is the shortfall because the Head of the Officials knows less then most officials. The Head of the Officials needs to be re-evaluated every year by the higher authorities and held accountable somewhat for the official assignments and improving the overall officiating in the 16th Region. With out strong leadership in any job, no one improves.

I'm thinking a "pair" of open dates. One for Wireman One for GIAT Or are you talking about a "pair" tree to cast your bait toward for the big catch. How about a "pair" of Fish (2) and a loaf of bread and you feed everbody that attends these 2 (pair) of games.:banana:

I agree...but you need to work on your math...it's $55.00 per game, no gas money, no pay for wear and tear on your vehicle, you must be at game site one hour before scheduled game time, you may have to travel 50 to 100 miles, so add this time...oh yea, lets not forget the cost of uniforms etc... Now do the math and see how close to minimum wage you get.:eek: Schools are required to have 5 three person officiating crews per season in the 16th region. Not a bad start in the state known for basketball since every single state that borders kentucky uses 3-person crews on every game. To make it worse, the district, regional and state tournaments all use 3-person crews so you would think that the refs could use a little more hands on training in the regular season to get ready for the post season. The supervisor of officials should know everything it takes to help officials improve but he depends on others. I agree with this part of your post 100%:thumb:

This might be the absolute worse quote ever typed on BGP... Lets talk about getting in position to get the angle to get the call right. Lets talk about floor coverage. Lets talk about focus. Lets talk about mechanics so that everyone knows what was called. Lets talk about hustle. Lets talk about being in decent shape to run the floor with the great athletes in high school sports. Lets talk about the act of shooting. Lets talk about 4 rule books. Lets talk about the walk call. Lets talk about the block/charge call. Lets talk about game management. Need we talk any more... None of this is so called, "grade school".

Criticism is a wonderful thing...even more so when it is somewhat constructive and one may learn from it. Everyone can use constructive criticism in all aspects of life, that's what makes us all better at what we do. Saying wait till they get back to the 16 Region, now that's not constructive...that is simply pathetic criticism. I just wish officials did not make mistakes so that when the game was over everyone could simply say we need to improve here or there instead of the officiating was horrible. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less... Hope you all have great seasons.
