Too close to the kids to comment. I have an ideal they are a little different than at the beginning though!!:p

I honestly haven't seen all the teams/players in the 16th to make a list. Only Raceland. Russell, West and Fairview. From those I would say that Vanhoose, Gill from Russell (and I know there is another one that I have forgotten the name at this time). Also imo Barker at Fairview should be on the list.

For month 1 of the season:

Looking at the "total package", including points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks & defense, and having seen just about every team in the 16th thus far, here is my Top 10:

My "Level 1" team has Vanhoose solidifying his #1 pre-season Ranking by leading his team to 9-0 so far with Euton & Jackson close behind. Ferguson, McDavid & Gill make up my "2nd Level". Daniels, Thomas, Barker, and Faulkner are at the next level rounding out my Top 10 thus far. It's early yet and I expect many kids capable of getting in the Top 10 to include: Robinson & Blair at Russell, Sparks at Raceland, Wolfenbarger & Brown at Greenup, Martin at Rowan, Hollingsworth at West, and Faulkner at Elliott.

It's been a great Month 1!

Imo Sparks at Raceland should also recieve consideration and although he is young (soph.) T. Boyles at Raceland has looked good.

Billy Blanton has been looking good as well.

I agree with most of these..except for not one being from BC-----

Casey Branham has played well the past few games

CD Mayhew has played well EVERY game

Selby is a rebounding machine

Tops:(no one else is close imo)

1.Jon Vanhoose-Russell

The rest:(these players are on about the same level talent wise)

2.Matt Daniel-Rowan

3.Drew McDavid-Ashland

4.Jon Fergason-Elliott

5.Ethan Falkner-Elliott

6.Dakotah Euton-Rose Hill

7.Matt Thomas-Ashland

8.Chad Jackson-Rose Hill

And Then:(3 best left over)

9.Austin Blair-Russell

10a.Scott Gill-Russell

10b.Tyler Wolfenbarker-Greenup Co.

JMO, but thats how I see it.

Boyd is extremely balanced and I dont know if any are top 10, but maybe all are worthy of 11 thru 14.

I agree. I am a Boyd fan and I wouldnt put any of our Boys in the top ten. We dont have a star player, in my mind thats a good thing. We had a star player last year and in the end it didnt work out. I think this team is better than last years.

I half way agree...but no one has been able to stop Selby inside...Selby hurts himself by getting into foul trouble.... If Boyd doesnt have one in the top ten...why does Ashland???? just a thought...

Selby is a power inside. Like you said, he hurts himself getting into foul trouble. You cant be a star only playing half of each quarter. Ashland has some in the top ten because they are top ten players. I honestly dont believe Boyd has a top ten player on the team as of right now. Selby and Blanton could very easily be two of the top 10 - 15 in the region. Boyd didnt beat Ashland because of all the stars they have on their team, they beat Ashland because they out played the Tomcats that game. And that my friend is why Boyd has no stars, but a very complete hard working team and Ashland has a couple.

There is not a coach in the region that would not like to have 4 players average in double figures and play as hard on defense as these boys do. These boys flew under the radar last year and managed to so far this year, thats not always a bad thing. And yes I agree this is a better team than last year. And as long as we can keep any players from getting into that top 10 we will be just fine.
