Good win for the Red Devils! Ross Turner and Marcus Frazier really stepped up, along with ferguson to help the devils through the stretch!:fire:

Devils win in a foul-fest Senior night. VanHoose, Blair, and Robinson all fouled

out for Russell by about the 1:30 mark in the fourth quarter. Russell was able

to maintain its 10 point lead for the remainder of the game. I believe one if

not two Lions also fouled out of the ballgame. To Russell's credit, they were

able to go about 60% from the line to maintain their lead.

Coach Dodd really praised Russell for running his offense quite well in the

second half. He also gave big props to two of his seniors, Mullins and Doss,

that do not get much playing time.

Russell shows they have more depth than some believe. Already shorthanded without Gill. Blair fouls out early and really sits most of the second half. followed by Robinson and Vanhoose fouling out. Without these starters Russell maintains a lead despites some shakey moments.

 

Good games from Frazier, Ferguson, and Turner for Russell. Timmy Knipp was the POG for Elliot. The kid still doesn't have alot of strength but he does have lengnth and blocked or effected alot of shots.

 

Russell is the all scarecrow team. They need to ask the wizard for a brain. When you are up 10-15 points late in the game quit committing SILLY fouls.

 

Let me preface this by saying I love the way the kid plays. Faulkner #1 plays with all the heart in the world, but the way he reaches and slaps at the ball he is the last kid on the floor that needs to complain to the officials about fouls. Just play the game.

Congrats to Russell on the win, no real surprise here since they were at home. Would be great to see these two teams battle for the title in Morehead.

Marcus Frazier was player of the game, followed closely by Ross Turner and

Jacob Ferguson. These 3 really came up big when their team needed it,

VanHoose, Blair, and Robinson played like they were distracted by all the senior night activities at time, and did not figure out how to quit making silly fouls. Timmy Knipp was big off the bench for Elliot

Kind of a weird game and it was the longest 1.23 in history as Russell played it without their 3 best ball handlers but Elliot was unable to close the gap

as Russell hit just enough free throws to get the job done

Officiating was "nasty ugly" tonight for both teams and I dont know who benefitted from this inconsistency. One ref in particular was way out of the loop on the what type of tempo the crew wanted to convey to the top 2 teams in the region.

 

If the referee's region tournament vote was tonight, NOBODY would recieve any votes from area coaches IMO.

Great Win for the Devils!!!! Congrats on an undefeated home schedule this year. That's one goal reached and now let's go after goal #2, then #3. I hopw Scott Gill gets well soon cause we're going to need him come region time. Marcus really stepped up tonight with 15 points on Senior Night. That may just be his career high, I'm pretty sure it. Russell had to finish with it's JV team on the floor other than Ross and Marcus subbing in on offense but they made enough FT to win. Great win!!! Now it's time for the trip to Tomcat country. Should be fun.
