He may do it, but the point made should be noted!! Ashland is going to have to quit living in the past and do something in the present!!! Last State Title in the 60's and last State Championship game in 1996, and they lost! The Tomcats need to get back to the way they were. I'd like to see Tomcat Dynasty NOT tarnihsed tradition!!

First I would state that Boyd received no more bad calls than Morgan, which is rare when playing home. So Coach Pratt or anyone else that might believe that Boyd got "hosed" is WRONG! The game had some bad calls and many no calls, but the calls that were called favored Boyd! Second, you are absolutely correct in stating that Boyd was no pushover. In fact, Boyd won the first quarter. Morgan then dominated the second. The teams played fairly even in the third. Then Boyd outplayed the Cougars in the 4th. So on a given night anything is possible. I look for both of these teams to be right there come the Regional!

That is the only good news for the Tomcats this season!! Maybe next year they can get back to their old selves! I don't look for Ashland to be at Morehead the way they are playing this year!

Lee should be much better than Fleming, but they just didn't show it tonight! Hats off to Fleming on winning the game!

Congrats to the Cougars on staying unbeaten in the 16th!! My thoughts: (1) As for the game - Great game for the fans! Atmosphere was great!This was a game where Morgan showed their ability until the last quarter when they just fell apart. They kept enough composure to win, but some of that was luck. Boyd missed two free throws at the end of the game and then Owens missed the last shot. Any of those could have changed the outcome. This is not to mention the technical that Boyd Co. received. Morgan dominated the game in all other respects! (2) As to Boyd Co. - They have a good team. Not as good as Morgan when they are playing good, but Boyd will be one of the favorites in the Regional. The only things I would say about Boyd is that they seem to be very sensitive. Several of their players complain too much and they seem to have short fuses! There were more fouls called on Morgan than Boyd, yet the Boyd players were acting like they were victimized. You didn't see this from the Morgan players even though they were being hammered too. The technical called on the Boyd player for his actions is one example. That resulted in points for Morgan that very well could be argued to have cost his team the game. Then immediately after the technical, that same player goes right over to the bench and slams his fist into the chair, which you could hear all over the gym? Several times during the game Boyd players had to come out of the game to be consoled by the Boyd coaching staff. If Boyd's players could get over this problem, they would play much better ball. (3) As to Morgan Co. - As usual the Cougars played good ball for 3 quarters and had a good lead. Despite being hammered and there being several "no calls" there were no complaints by the Morgan players and they conducted themselves in a very sportsmanlike manner. Morgan was very impressive until the 4th quarter. Not only did their shooting go cold, but they seemed rattled. They started making little mistakes in execution and in judgment and almost cost themselves the game. The game was won in the 4th just as much on Boyd's failure to make shots just as much as anything that Morgan can claim to have done. Although Morgan played well for 3 quarters, a team can't have a 12 point lead going into the 4th and have to rely on luck to pull it out. Take away the technical on Boyd and the two missed free throws by Boyd and Morgan would have lost. Morgan is a very good team and should easily be the Regional favorite. BUT they are going to have to learn to play 4 quarters if they want to make sure they go to Rupp! This is not the only game that Morgan has done this in either. If they don't solve this problem, it very well could catch up to them! (4) As to Owens - A very good ball player with great moves. However, he had a horrible night shooting the ball. Some of that could be attributable to the Morgan Defense, but his shooting was not even average. He does have a great ability to cut through the traffic and make plays, whether it be driving and dishing out to another player or taking the shot himself. On the positive side - his speed is the one thing that really stood out more than anything else IMO. On the negative side, I thought that he made some bad judgments on shot selection. (5) On the Officials - The refs did a decent job. They called many more fouls on Morgan than Boyd, but that could be due to Morgan's D being more aggressive. But the refs did a good job. Sure they missed some calls, but this happens in every game and in this game it was not one sided. If any team would have a right to complain, it would be Morgan not Boyd. But I have certainly seen many worse called games before. I am sure that Morgan and Boyd have played in several games that were called worse than this one!

Honestly, I think that Mason Co. and anything west thereof is NKY and anything east is EKY! It doesn't necessarily matter what district or region you play in! Anything south of Pendleton and Grant is CKY and Pendleton and Grant and any school north of them are NKY!

Why would you want to limit NKY to 3 counties, yet dump everyone else into CKY? It makes no sense! No Pendleton isn't part of the Greater Cincy area, but they are NKY whether you like it or not! Just look at the map if you have any questions!

JC wins easily! Looks like they are the forerunner in the 57th at this point, considering how Paintsville is playing!

Just shows how competitive the 57th is going to be come March!

I'm not at all impressed with Ashland this year! But a win is a win and they need all that they can get!

Congrats to Morgan Co. on an easy district win! Now tomorrow you guys can show everyone what you can do against the Lions of Boyd County!

The Tigers pull out a close district win! This game could have gone to Magoffin very easily! No dominance by the Tigers at all!

Morgan by 3+, assuming both teams come out to play, which I expect them to do!

Paintsville should win this one easy, but they way they have been playing you never know!

I like what you say, but it sounds like fiction to me!! We are looking at a year where the word "ASHLAND TOMCAT" has no meaning. No one is intimidated by this team and this team isn't living up to the level of success expected of the Tomcats! Further, the schedule is pure suicide for most any team. What more could go wrong for the Tomcats! I don't know what is the problem, whether it be coaching or players, but for a school the size of Ashland, they should be able to get more guys on the floor to play basketball!! Rose Hill and Fairview are MUCH MUCH smaller than Ashland. What gives??

No one would like to see Ashland win any more than me, BUT they aren't getting that much better!! Ashland won't even be a factor in the 16th Tourney. Besides, they may not even make it to the tourney with Boyd and Fairview in their District!

Congrats to the Devils! Russell keeps slowly improving and Lawrence seems to be slowly getting worse!

Morgan will win easy if they stay focused! They can't be looking ahead to Boyd Co. If they don't come in thinking of Boyd, they should be just fine!

Congrats to Landon on passing 1,000! But with that said, if Landon wants to go to the next level, he has got to start handling the pressure D! He hasn't been all that impressive this year for some reason when he is pressured! In some ways, he played better as a freshman!

Whoever made out Ashland's schedule must have been expecting the Harlem Globetrotters to suit up in Tomcat uniforms! With the team Ashland has this year, they just can't compete!

This is not really a surprise as either of these teams could beat the other on a given night! Apparently Paintsville as a team continues to stay in their slump. Nice to see Grimm step up for a big game. He kept it from being a blowout. JC hasn't really hit their potential yet either! We can only look to Round II to see which team improves the most the rest of the season! Congrats to the Eagles on a hard played game!

Paintsville by 6. But the way the Tigers and Eagles are playing right now, either could blow the other out on a given night!

More like a big loss for Paintsville!! I wouldn't call Seneca or Owensboro Apollo unknowns! But with that said, Seneca is down this year and Apollo just didn't play well and Paintsville was on a roll! I don't know what is wrong with Paintsville this year, but I do know that they need some help on the boards bad!

My bad spindoc, GoRedDevils, russellrooter and shooterx3! I thought that Russell was playing Scott Co. when I said they had NO chance! But with that said, I would have still thought that Scott would have beat Russell, but I wouldn't have said NO chance! Scott High is very solid and Russell done well in beating them! Congrats to the Devils on a good win against a very good team! By the way, I was for Russell, but no way anyone from the 16th would beat Scott Co.
