Powerhouse Cats Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 A much closer game than the score indicates. Ashland was in it in the fourth quarter but Ironton just proved to be to much for the Tomcats.
Nothingbutnet Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Whoever made out Ashland's schedule must have been expecting the Harlem Globetrotters to suit up in Tomcat uniforms! With the team Ashland has this year, they just can't compete!
Goliath Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Ironton walloped Ashland last year, but lost everyone except Gagai, and Ashland returns everyone but Miller yet we still lose by 11 on our home court??
AshlandTomcat41 Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 McDavid and Thomas scored 41 of Ashland's 49. They both hit somebig shots, Ashland just got killed on the boards. Can someone get Wayne Breeden on the phone??
True Blue Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 The loss means nothing. As long as the Tomcats are getting better so they are ready come tournament time I would think the Ashland faithful shouldn't throw in the towel yet.

Being 0-2 in the District, is not a great start but they can turn it around, to make a run in the tournament.
LRCW Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Ashland just got killed on the boards. Can someone get Wayne Breeden on the phone?? Breeden is smaller than you. He's not going to be any help on the boards.

Blue Blazer Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I listened to Coach Flynn on the radio last night on the way home from another local game and he seemed really down about the effort. Remeber that a coach can only put kids in position to win. A coach has little control over one of his top 3 scorers shooting 0 fer. Sounds like the Cats were in position to win and just maybe they don't how to win right now. Nobody fears them and they may have lost some confidence. However, I believe they get it done in districts and go to Morehead and they COULD make some noise there if they can find a little confidence.

Think about the draw. If they draw Boyd=Loss, Fairview=probable loss, Rose Hill=coin toss with the way the Royals have been playing.

Spindoc, You could be right the Cats could be in the stands watching the Regionals , but I believe that they could also beat ANY of the teams in their District as well. There is alot of parity in the 64th. I also wouldn't be too surprised if Rose Hill got to Morehead either.

I totally agree and wasn't intending to be slanderous, just that the usual expectation of Ashland in the regional tourney is anything but a sure bet. Now that the district is like the rest of the state and a draw versus a seed, anything goes. Ask East and West girls when they both are deserving of the region and draw one another.
Blue Blazer Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Stating the obvious the State of Tomcat basketball is looking dim. I just have a hard time writing them off in Mid January. Anytime you have McDavid, Thomas, and Wilcox on the floor I think your team has a CHANCE. I totally agree Spindoc alot of good teams don't get as far as they should because of the Draw!!!!
