I don't think this will effect them(girls) too much. Coach Kidwell works hard and he will work just as hard if he stays on the girls side as if he does the boy's side. Coach Kidwell is a professional and he seems to be well liked by the girls so I would think they would be happy that he would be staying if he doesn't get the boys job. I believe he WILL be the next boy's coach, but like I've said all along I don't know why you'd want the Russell boy's job when you already coach the best basketball team in the school year in and year out! The girls is traditionally better and currently better with a much brighter future!

Josh Reed 8th grade 3rd baseman had a great game for the Rams. Raceland is playing some good baseball right now. Keep it up guys and let's be on a roll come districts! By the way how tough is John Scott Carver? He gets his front tooth knocked out completely in warmups and still plays the entire game.

That is surprising! I personally thought this was a no brainer decision and Coach Kidwell would be the man to run the boy's program! He has proven himself as an excellent coach on both the boy's and girls side.

Paul will be missed. He stopped me not too long ago to talk about the softball season, he always had kind words and words of encouragement for teachers and coaches. I will never forget the 1994 District Championship at Russell when we won the first district basketball title since the 60's and here was Paul a school board member celebrating in the middle of the floor at Russell like a big kid hugging all of us and screaming like he just won the lottery. Paul was very special to the Raceland community. He was truly a Ram and was a model of what our small tight knit community exemplifies.

I personally think that if Bush should want the job he would be a great fit. He has poured alot of time into the Rose Hill program and it seems that the kids really like him. He may be happy staying an assistant, but whomever gets the job should be going to him first to make sure he stays on the staff.

So is Kidwell a done deal? And whoever is the new boys coach better role up there sleeves there is alot of work that needs to be done.

Interesting observation. I have thought this was Fraley's job from the get go. Dodd can coach he knows the game. I think Dodd likes the 16th and IF he gets a second chance like the GC job he may do some things differently. However I too believe that Fraley is the next head coach at GC. I'm sure that GC has contacted Russell and got some of the Dodd scoop which couold hurt him in the long run for the GC job! However I know nothing I'm an outsider of both schools looking in.

I agree I think it should be Coach Kidwell's if he wants it. However his girls program is rolling right now and the boys aren't near as good so I wouldn't blame him if he wants to stay put. I think he would do an outstanding job, but the boy's program graduated 3 starters off a 3-26 team. The new coach has alot of work to do.

Coach Kidwell should get the job. He is an excellent coach and very respected with the Russell community. However he has done a nice job with the girls program so he could be in a situation that he may not want to leave. Honestly after seeing the boys play and the future, the girls may be the better choice. JMO!

When are the Euton's moving? I will go on to speculate that the Rose Hill girls job and AD position will be open as well. This IMO is just as big a blow as Dakota. Pam has been the girls basketball coach, volleyball coach, and AD. I admit it that I have bashed Rose Hill , but I have recently worked with Pam Euton on things concerning girls sports in the 16th region and she has been nothing but a pleasure and a model representative of Rose Hill. I have enjoyed her ideas and concerns and we are not best of friends, but I do consider her a friend in the business and wish the family the best.

John Scott Carver at Raceland can flat out hit the ball. He batted .445 last season with some homeruns. His first varsity homer came as a freshman. i believe this junior will put up some big Homerun and RBI totals for Hoof this season.

Nice job Marissa! I know the teams of the 16th are happy that you are gone, but they are also happy that you are doing extremely well. Keep up the good work! Marissa was a perfect example of what a high school student athlete should be! I have the upmost respect for her as a person and an athlete.

The Lady Rams are all class. Last night I was so proud of their efforts on the court, they showed great determination and perservance throughout the season. However the most moving part of last nights championship probably went unnoticed by many. Raceland junior Jesse Clark took Greenup Co.'s Ashley Grizzle a card signed by the Raceland team and hugged her during the all-district celebration. They took time to recognize this young lady who played so well this week through the loss of her sister. The girls really are all heart on and off the court. This is why Raceland is so special and these young ladies have been able to achieve so much. Great job parents, teachers, and coaches!

If those 3 are the best I would hat to see the 16th region's worst! They called nothing and let the game get out of control. I thought the game IMO was officiated very poorly! (On both sides) They were consistently horrible for both teams!

I will be there! However this is the first time I will be watching softball and not baseball. It is a great trip for everyone. I will be watching baseball at the Expo on the Raceland girls fastpitch day off Monday April 1st.

Russell in 2006 lost district to Greenup Co. and won the 16th the next week.

:confused:You really think that Raceland could have a "bad" draw this season. Russell and Greenup Co. should be tickled to death that one of them teams will be in Morehead. You can say what you want but the draw has helped Raceland several times and it has hurt us several times. Seeding will do the same. Yes it would help the Rams this year, but what about next? In high school sports you never know when your down years come a good draw could put you in the region. That generally doesn't happen with seeding.
