oldrambler Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I thought that I would post this in the football forum rather than in general discussion. Reason being that there are a lot of Raceland fans and fans from other schools that do not post much in anything other than the High School forums. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Paul Rose, long time Raceland youth coach (in all sports) and a mainstay at any and all Raceland football games since as far back as I can remember has passed . Paul was a member of the Raceland School Board for years. As I said, he coached all Raceland youth sports for years and years and was a valued friend and member of the Raceland Ram Family. Paul will be missed by the Raceland community as well as by other communities as well. Paul Rose, 68yrs. old of Racleand Passed away on Tuesday and the Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. He left a wife (Laura), son (Tim), daughter (Paula) and daughter (Lauren). Visitation and Funeral will be held at Raceland High School at the gym/arts center. Visitation is Thursday from 6pm untill 9pm and the Funeral will be Friday at 11am. R.I.P. Paul Rose. .
Ram Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Paul will be missed in the Raceland community, as well in the Raceland School System. As oldrambler said, Paul played sports at Raceland, coached youth sports, was a school board member, and was a mainstay at Raceland basketball and football games. I have known Paul, as well as his family, for years, Paul and his family have always been great people to know. Paul will be missed but not forgotten.
The Greatest fan Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Truly a great loss to our community. I've known him most of my life and had a great respect for him and his family. He would always take time to say hi and talk a spell. I really enjoyed talking to him at the games. He will truly be missed.
stick1 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Prayers are with you guys and your communitty. You know we hold you guys in high regard.
Ram Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Prayers are with you guys and your communitty. You know we hold you guys in high regard. As we do you. Definitely a special bond between Raceland and Lawrence Co. I was in the ER, when Paul was being admitted two weeks ago, all Paul wanted to talk about was how well the Raceland football team was going to do this year. Paul loved his family, and Raceland. A true carrier of the Raceland torch.
oldrambler Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Paul and his family were very long time friends of mine as well. .
Henry521 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Thoughts and prayers from the Fort Thomas Highlands community. God Speed.
Birdsfan Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 So sorry to hear of this. Deepest sympathies to all in Raceland.
oldrambler Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 As we do you. That was Paul, I don't think that I ever talked with him one time that he didn't mention the football team along with baseball and basketball. Paul was for the kids first and foremost. Yes, he indeed carried the Torch for Raceland Sports. I know that he was my little league baseball coach and I would venture to guess that he was a little league coach of most every kid that went through Raceland for quite a while (all of the 70's and some in the 80's). Paul Rose will still be at every football game that Raceland ever plays - he now just has a much better seat.
oldrambler Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 So sorry to hear of this. Deepest sympathies to all in Raceland. I am sure that I can speak for everyone in saying thank you Birdsfan.
cvillecat Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 This is very sad news. Paul was my little league football coach and a dear friend of our family. When I think of Paul I will always remember his wide smile, firm handshake, and the passion he carried in his heart for Raceland athletics and the Raceland/Worthington school system. He will truly be missed. My thoughts and Prayers go out to his wife and children. RIP Paul
Blue Blazer Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Paul will be missed. He stopped me not too long ago to talk about the softball season, he always had kind words and words of encouragement for teachers and coaches. I will never forget the 1994 District Championship at Russell when we won the first district basketball title since the 60's and here was Paul a school board member celebrating in the middle of the floor at Russell like a big kid hugging all of us and screaming like he just won the lottery. Paul was very special to the Raceland community. He was truly a Ram and was a model of what our small tight knit community exemplifies.
Alabama Larry Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Sounds like a guy I'd love, sorry to everyone and prayers for his family and for the folks who loved him as a friend.
CURTIS LOWE Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 May God be with the family and friends thoughts and prayers also goes out to everyone that Paul touch and knew.
RamBackstop8 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Paul will be missed. The thing I will always remember about him was that he would give you that firm handshake, a pat on the shoulder and he would ask how things were going...and he seemed genuinly interested in what you had to say. I didn't know him that well, but the way he would talk to me, it made me feel like we were old buddies from way back. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. The Raceland family lost a heck of a good guy.
