Former Russell pitcher Marissa Adkins pitched a perfect game over Alice Lloyd College. She had 11 strikeouts.

Nice job Marissa! I know the teams of the 16th are happy that you are gone, but they are also happy that you are doing extremely well. Keep up the good work! Marissa was a perfect example of what a high school student athlete should be! I have the upmost respect for her as a person and an athlete.

Spoke with Paul Lewis who was at the game umpiring and he said she was her normal calm and in control self in the circle. She went 3 balls and no strikes to one hitter and came back to get a strikeout.

 

Pikeville College is apparently taking on a very nice look. Former East standout and 2 time Mid South conference player Krista Kouns is at short and Marissa is in left when not pitching. Former Lawrence County standout Brittany Schaeffer is in right and hitting 4th. Marissas` high school teammate Tiffany Little shares time at 1st base.

 

Cory Houston has also transferred from W>VA> State and should make an impact when she becomes eligible.
