The new equipment looks very nice. Pikeville really does have a great weightroom, I love how it is designed and overlooks the gym. Its nice to see the kids working so hard in there and getting stronger for next year. I think its safe to say that Coach J and his staff are by far getting more out of the weightroom at PHS than any of the previous staffs. Good luck to Coach J and the whole team and staff...I am very excited about the future of Pikeville football.

OK maybe I shouldn't have said meaningless...Its nice to play at Applesbees and play some of the best small schools in the state. The best thing about the All-A is that it gives schools that advance in the All-A tourney more tournament experience which could really help if they advance far in the postseason. IMO that is the most meaninful aspect of the All-A tournament.

I believe for the All-A they just count enrollment for grades 10-12 which is how a lot of the AA schools are able to get in the tourney. The All-A is meaningless IMO in both baseball and basketball and if it isn't going to be a true All-A tournament I wish they would quit having it...however that won't happen. The only positive that I personally see in it is that it gives the schools that compete in it some tournament experience for when the postseason comes around.

My preseason AAA top 5 would be: 1.Bowling Green 2.Highlands 3.Rockcastle County-My pick to win AAA in 06 4.Lexington Catholic 5.Hoptown Bell County and Boyle County are right there also...

I have no idea on the spring break and who stayed with the team and who didn't. Off topic but I was wondering how the Cats baseball team is looking this year and are there some good young players coming up for Pburg? Do the good athletes at Prestonsburg for the most part not play baseball or in your opinion o-line is baseball just not taken very seriously at Pburg? Pburg should be one of the top teams in the 15th region and the top team in the 58th district most season with all the good athletes that go to school there imo. I know in the late 90s Prestonsburg had some good baseball teams...I think they were beat out by the eventual region champs in 98 and 99 in very good games. Good luck to the Blackcats this year...when will the new field at Stonecrest(I think I heard thats where they are going to have their baseball field) be ready?

I agree...I think Pugh will be the top QB in EKY and Class A...Cashen from Corbin is among the best also. As for the best in the state I will go with Ammons from Franklin County.

Pikeville will struggle early but they have the top coach in the 15th region IMO and they will be in position to repeat as region champs come tournament time...when will the lights be ready so Pikeville can play on their field instead of the Pikeville College field?

How many kids does Pikeville have out this spring? I know some that are out this spring will not stay with it when the 90 degree heat and 2 or 3 pratices a day come around but I heard that the numbers were looking pretty good this year. Do they have some big kids out and any new players out this spring? Honest question to those close to the team...do you expect them to be improved from last season? Coach Jackson is a great coach and if he has the talent I think he will do some special things at Pikeville.

I agree...even though they have been down for a while they have a good tradition...How many state titles has Paris won?

Phelps received a vote even though they are in Pikeville's district and they have never beat Pikeville.:lol: How can you see who voted for who in the polls? I have always wondered how to do this and have never been able to.

Never!! I went to a Class A school that has won 1 region title in the past 30 years but I still think it should stay the way it is.

Good point and I agree...I say it was a combo of both but I didn't think about the underdog factor.

I was sitting on the end where PRP was shooting the 2nd half. Crutcher got called for a hook and 2 charges I believe in the late 3rd and 4th quarter. The 3rd and 4th foul which I believe was a charge and a hook(as hook I mean that he took the arm that he didn't have the ball in and hooked it around the defender as he was going toward the basket). I thought those 2 fouls were good calls as Crutcher did foul both times. The 5th call was a charge that was questionable IMO and I don't think it should have been called. Crutcher is a warrior down low...is he a senior this season and does/did he play football at PRP?
