The Expo Center is no doubt the best place for the tournament and I hope it stays in Pikeville every year. Those concession prices are too high for a high school sporting event...they need to have the prices be comparable to what it would be if the tourney was at a high school if possible.

Congrats Betsy Layne...They should give Johnson Central all they can handle and have a shot to advance to the title game. When is the last time the Bobcats won a region title?

Pikeville is playing their best basketball at the right time but I don't think they will beat Johnson Central. The Eagles are a good basketball team that could still have a few wins left this season. Win or lose Pikeville has had a good year and this team has brought some pride and excitement back into the program and they are young and will be better next season. I'll take Pike Central over Prestonsburg in the final...All 8 teams have a good following so there should be some big crowds at the Expo. While doubtful it would be sweet to see a All-Pike County final four

:thumb: That speaks for itself...the 59th is down this year but most years it is the best district in the 15th region IMO. SV and ER have been owned the region the past few years and Pikeville will be one of the top teams in the region very soon.

You living in Daytona Beach now Tom? I really liked having you at the News Express, you did a better job than anyone else they have ever had IMO as far as trying to give all high schools in Pike County good coverage in the paper. I think I have seen you say that you are from the Daytona Beach area and if thats the case def. can't blame you for moving home near your family but you did a great job in Pikeville and I hope you enjoyed your time here.

Congrats Tigers!! I have heard all season that Paintsville was overrated but I knew they would pick it up and be the favorite for the region title heading into the tournament. Good luck to the Tigers next week in the Expo Center...I am looking forward to watching the Tigers play.

Where is the game being played at RNC? This should be a great game, I am pulling for Paintsville. Go Tigers!! Also RNC if you hear a score from the Pikeville-Valley game will you post a update or send me the score in a PM? I am out of the area and can't get the score.

The final was 57-51 if any Mods want to put the final score in the title of the thread. Congrats Pburg in winning the 58th district title...I am looking forward to watching the Blackcats play in the Expo Center next week and they have as good of a chance of winning the region as anyone else.

I would say there is a good possibilty that East Ridge and Pike Central will have turf in 5 or so years....I haven't heard anything just my opinion. I don't know if Phelps will do it but there is a lot of coal that comes out of the Phelps area so there could be some big sponsors that step up to the plate for the Hornets. I've never been to East Ridge's school so I don't know how their athletic facilities are but I would assume they are pretty nice. Shelby Valley and Pike Central will be 2 of the top fields in EKY along with Belfry and Pikeville once/if they have turf.

Congrats Paintsville I was wanting to watch the Tigers in Pikeville next week...I'm glad they have advanced on to the regional tournament.

Belfry will win their region again next season and will be a top contender for another state title.

When is construction on the new arena at NKU supposed to begin and what is the expected seating capacity? It sounds like it is going to be very nice and it would be a nice place to have the 9th and/or 10th region tournaments.

In the next 5-10 years I've heard that South Floyd, Allen Central, and Betsy Layne will consolidate.

I agree...having the tournament at the Expo Center is a great idea and hopefully it will be held there every year. The Expo Center is by far the nicest arena/venue east of Lexington and to not have it held there would be crazy IMO.
