Future sites for the 10th region Tournament

What about parking at Montgomery County? Can they accommodate all the cars like Mason County can? Also, if the 37th thinks NKU can host the region, why wouldn't NKU be hosting the 9th region?

I still like the idea of a joint venture betwen the 9th and 10th Regions at the new NKU Arena. Have a Championship Night Doubleheader and the place would be standing room only. With the 10th region now including several NKY schools the NKU Arena is as close or closer for tehm to travel as the Fieldhouse in Mason CTy or certainly the new gym in Montgomery CTY.

When is construction on the new arena at NKU supposed to begin and what is the expected seating capacity? It sounds like it is going to be very nice and it would be a nice place to have the 9th and/or 10th region tournaments.

My understanding is sometime this spring, and it is to seat between 9/10 thousands. Personally, I don't see those in Mason, Bourbon, Harrison Counties or Paris willing to do all that driving, and remember if the boys play there the girls will want to play there also........

Everyone in the Ninth will love to play there, and no one will complain about the drive, as we in Boone, Campbell and Kenton Counties, will finaly have a first rate arena, like the most of the other areas of the Commonwealth have had for years......

Some things are just better left alone. The Fieldhouse is the home of the 10th region Tournament and shall remain so. You cant' go messing with tradition like this. It's talk like this that ruined High School Basketball in Indiana.

I cant understand why people want to change something that has worked so well for so many years. I, for one, dont mind at all to drive to Maysville because I know that nothing beats regional time at the Fieldhouse. Is there an advantage for Mason County? Not one bit. As myself and others have stated on several occasions, when Mason County when the regional tournament they were the best team. Let's not change something because a few people think it is unfair. Not to sound cruel but if the tournament were to move to Mount Sterling, I doubt very seriously that I would ever attend.

It is not about tradition. Being from Clark Co we are on the far side out. Mason is a 1 1/2 hour drive for us, and not good roads either. Home crowd is an advantage. Home floor is an advantage.

On a personal biases I would love to see Montgomery Co given a chance. Only 1/2 hour form here. Also I have no problem and feel that that NKU arena may be the best place for the 10th. Yes that will be far for the Clark fans and team, but it will be a natural court and form the info of the seating, will be big enough to house the tourney.

Now for selfish reasons I would love to see the 10th and 16th played at Morehead State....my two favoriet regions....I could watch both... :D

Looks like we need a spell check button for our moderators. :D

Isn't Mt. Sterling about 2 hours away for schools like Silver Grove, Brossart, Campbell, Scott, Calvary, Augusta, Bracken? Why would they vote for Montgomery County to host?

Do you honestly think that if Mason and Pendleton play again that Mason will have more fans there? I seriously doubt it. If people from Clark, Bourbon, Montgomery, Campbell, etc. came out to support their teams like they do in Falmouth you wouldn't have to worry about a crowd advantage. You can't say there is more people in Falmouth than those places either.

I was referring to the new areana about 2-3 years from now.

If you move the region to the NKY arena, your still going to have the same complaints from those from the southern part of the region (see 40th district), about travel etc.

I dont have a problem with playing it in a Fieldhouse, and until the new Montgomery Co. gym is built, I think it should be played there, and even if/when the new gym is built, it should be on a rotational basis.......

In a perfect world, there would be a 15,000 seat gym at Blue Licks (pretty central location) with free burgers, hot dogs, and cokes.....

Now, I drive pretty fast and I make it to Winchester under an hour from Maysville. It's exactly 45 minutes from my driveway in Flemingsburg; Which is 15 minutes from Maysville.

Sunrise, I think it's time you invested in one of those horse-less carriages :sssh:

I am of the older generation and drive the speed limit...it really does take me 1 1/2 hours. I usually have to sit in the upper deck at the fieldhouse too because all the good lower seats are taken. :irked:

GS just hollar at me and ill save you a seat if you would like,I always have the same spot on the lower side behind the scorers table but you have to wear Blue. :D (even if its just a UK shirt). :p

Sweet of you...may take you up on it...except will UK ear rings do... :D The team and managers would dis-own me if I wore anything but our Black & Red...

I don't know who is doing the talking for the 37th District, but the 37th District Tail isn't going to wag the 10th Region dog, now or anytime in the future.

The 10th Region tournament is firmly rooted at the Mason County Fieldhouse and I suspect that is where it is going to stay ad infinitum. Since it ain't broke it's not about to get fixed. Jackpot sized splits guarantee that it will stay firmly implanted in Maysville.

You will hear no complaints from us. It is one of the selling points that we use for playing in the 10th Region.

If the truth be known, the 10th Region blue-bloods are probably not happy to have the 37th District, (comprised 100% of former 9th region teams) growing on them like some kind of tumor as it is, let alone agree to "come north" with their showcase and "lose control" of the 10th Region Tournament as we know it.

Trust Me On This One - Ain't Gonna Happen! :D
