How about 2002:

Lost @ Bourbon by 18, then Beat them by 3 @ the fieldhouse.

If that tourny was held anywhere else, they would not have won it.

I think you need to do a little more research on that game. Let me know when you find it. ;)

That loss to Bourbon was the 2nd game of the season. They played again in the 5/3 Classic @ Lex. Cath. where Mason won by 4. So both teams won at home and Mason won on a Neutral floor to take 2 of 3. hhhmmmm.

Not in high school, not in college, not in pro. Not in football, not in baseball, not in basketball. Does a team ever host a post season tournament every year on their actual home court. But it is okay to make an exception here because of the tradition. Think about that.

So you don't think Montgomery Co. should host it either if no one should have a homecourt advantage?

I don't think they should host it every year.

Maybe it's the price we play to play in such an accommodating facility, and managed by such an experienced Tournament Director and his team.

It's more a concession that we make to Mason County for having them host the 10th Region Tournament.

The bottom-line is that WE LIKE IT THERE and if the price we pay is that Mason County gets to play on their home court - so be it.

Moving it around the region to places like Montgomery County, NKU, and the Fieldhouse might sound good in a board room meeting, but when it is all said and done, the Mason County Fieldhouse is the HOME of the 10th Region Tournament. It is where the most fans come, where the teams participating most like playing, and is best positioned to host such a popular event.

Sure Clark and Montgomery would like to not have to travel the hour each way, but when they do they are in the tournament, and if they make the trip on consecutive nights so much the better. We'd probably prefer to play across the street at the Middle School, but if it means playing in the 10th Region Tournament with a shot to go to Rupp, we couldn't be happier to get on the bus!

Nice research, but guess what, can you honestly say you know a year Mason Co. won the region without having the best team? I can't, and that is the REAL point here.

No the real point is home court advantage every year no matter what the talent level.

I LOVE the fieldhouse. I love games there, the atmosphere, the parking, the restaurants and afterhours in Maysville. Unless someone can build something bigger then the region should never be moved. 5000 people is not big enough for the tenth unless you want to send 2 or 3 thousand home.

I like the 10th at Mason it is close to home for me and I played there when I was in school.I don't care one way or another it suits me just fine right in Maysville. What gets me is Mason fans saying they don't have a home court advantage. They beat around the bush and change the subject to we have never won it without the talent.Just a week age before PC played them the thread was full of posts picking Mason because it was senior night on Masons floor. They are hard to beat on their floor.Just admit they have an advantage and let it go.I have no problem with letting Montgomery try it one year or if NKU gets their arena done let them try it.The drive is no problem for basketball fans wherever the game is.

I've got the perfect solution to end this arguement. Just make Mason Co. play all their home games at St. Patrick's court. That way the Fieldhouse will be a neutral site come tournament time. :D:D

It is a homecourt advantage, but the tournament that Mason County puts on deserves reward and homecourt advantage is it. If any other school in the region could put on the kind of regional tournament that Mason can then I would be all for it. So if you want homecourt advantage in the tenth you need to build an arena that holds 6k plus, have great parking, have a local city with plenty of restaurants and hotels and you have to be able to make it all look easy.... Otherwise, The Fieldhouse is the best place for the tenth region tournament.

Not every year.
