I agree. Give Montgomery County a chance to prove themselves, it is the right thing to do.

 

If the majority of people like it there and there are no major issues that come of it then a rotation is a good idea.

 

But I know one of three things will happen when it goes to Montgomery, maybe all three.

 

1. Attendance will decline - Mason Co. is a central location and is easily accessed by all fans from all

people in Maysville really support all games and have traditions of being in the

With all that being said, if the regional powers-that-be really think that Montgomery County will have the facilities and everything else that goes along with putting on the 10th tourney (parking, hospitality, ticket management, concessions, nearby accomodations, etc. etc. etc.) in 2008; I say let them have their chance. If it turns out to be a gigantic flop like it was in the '70s; maybe it will be another 30+ years before the bad memories are erased.

He said he's an impartial fan and he won't go to Montgomery. I wouldn't go down there unless I had a dog in the fight, so if the Camels or Wildcats weren't in it I wouldn't go. Off the top of my head I know 20 more people who feel the same way except they would either be pro-cat or pro-camel. I love the Fieldhouse, I know I'm getting a seat, I know its a great place to watch a game, and I can get there in reasonable fashion. 5:00 Friday will be real tough to make, but if it were in Montgomery it would be impossible. Even if I did make it, I might have to stay outside with 2000 others that couldn't get in because it isn't as big as the field house.

There is an option that nobody has voiced yet. If they have I missed it.

To have the opening round at two sites. The fieldhouse usually does not fill up for those games and the region would not be losing any money. Then meeting at the fieldhouse for the semifinals and the final when you would need the seating. This way everyone wins!:thumb:

KingSize, yours is a good idea, but there is still potential for a lot of travel time with a blind draw. Example: Brossart v. Montgomery, Clark v. Scott I've kept quiet on this one up until now, but I really think moving the tourney from the Fieldhouse would be a huge mistake.

Districts with Brossart and Scott would have the their opening rounds played at the filedhouse and the districts with Montgomery & Clark would play their opening rounds at the Fieldhouse and then go from there. Just an option.

I think anywhere other than Mason County will take away from the Regional Tournament almost to the point that the kids who play in the Region during the Montgomery Year will feel cheated.

One thing I heard was that before the tournament this year they remeasured the seats at the fieldhouse and cut them down by several hundred seats.This was due to what happened last year when they presold tickets and then fans were not let in because it was already full.I don't know how many they reduced it to maybe 5800 or something like that.

I have a question...if we already have tickets...do we have to stand in line Friday or are other doors going to be open? I saw alot of PC fans in line as we were leaving our game. With the huge crowd they bring and the GRC crowd I would hope that those with tickets would have certain entrances. Could someone post what they know about this.

I teach and IMO basketball is not worth taking off work. Last year you still had to wait in line.

That is why I asked the question above...if other doors ...like on the sides were open to those that had already bought tickets would be a huge help. I also taught...I was there to support the kids.:thumb: MC let out of school early yesterday. GRC still has not made a decision on this yet for Fridays game. They did not Monday.
