I've got the perfect solution to end this arguement. Just make Mason Co. play all their home games at St. Patrick's court. That way the Fieldhouse will be a neutral site come tournament time. :lol:

Lost @ Bourbon by 18, then Beat them by 3 @ the fieldhouse.

If that tourny was held anywhere else, they would not have won it.

That was the 2nd game of the year in the 1st few days of Decmeber and that was the year Mason played very late in the football playoffs.No excuse just the truth .The kids were playing football 10days before the game.

The Fieldhouse is synonomous with 10th region basketball. Moving the tourney to Montgomery would be a joke. Attendance would be low and the schools would lose lots of money.

 

Lets face it, most schools in the tenth are envious of Mason County (rightfully so). They are the Duke of the tenth region. I do not blame them for wanting to disarm whatever percieved advantage Mason County may have.

 

The fact of the matter is, Mason County has NEVER won the 10th region tournament as an underdog. So the advantage really has never kicked in for Mason County, but I certainly am not saying it is not there.

 

The 1981 team was the state runner-up. Then Mason County had a three in a row streak in the 90's, lead by Sean Myrick, that was without a doubt the most talented, deepest team in the region and probably state over those three years. They were not even challanged, the region tourney was a warm up exercise for those guys.

 

Then the Lofton years, in the 2000's Lofton would have won the region playing with a team of 8th graders. Those Mason County teams would have won the region ten times out of ten on any court anywhere.

Next year's venue is voted on by this year's participants.

 

Every year Clark/Montgomery make a motion to hold it in Winchester/Mt.Sterling and every year it is defeated 6-2.

 

Let me state again, a little louder and a litter clearer and in language you might understand - "IT AIN'T COMIN' TO NKU."

 

When Montgomery completes their new facility, I would expect that as a courtesy it may be held there for one year, after which the attendence and revenue figures will be compared and it will come home to the Fieldhouse.

 

So a rotation for girls regionals is ok, but not for boys. I think your good neighbor you keep talking about in football thread Campbell County hosted the girls regional last year, and the year CC beat Brossart in the district and region it was in Clark County. The year in between it was at Harrison, that sounds like a rotation!!

I've been told that I am wrong in how the site of the 10th Region Tournament is determined and that THERE IS INDEED A DISTRICT ROTATION in place which could lead to the 10th's Big Dance moving to Mount Sterling (or NKU) in upcoming years.

 

I guess that since we have been away from the 10th Region Tournament for the past two years things have changed in the manner in which the 10th Region site is determined.

Thanks, I am looking forward to the big GRC/Montgomery game tonight. Throw out the records when these two play. I can see the Cards at Rupp this year as an outside chance not seeing the Indians there but anything can happen. I will be in Bourbon tonight (Thur). I was their Tuesday as well.
