15th Region Tourney at the EXPO Center... What do you think?

Featured Replies

So now that the 15th Region tourney is going on at the Pike County EXPO Center, what do you think? Should it be done the same way next year on "totally neutral ground"? We heard that the crowd for the first round was great. Expect it will be full by the end of the week.

Complaints, suggestions?

Awesome venue for the tournament, shouldn't be anywhere else. One gripe...concessions way too expensive. 2 hotdogs + 2 cokes = $11.

The Expo Center is no doubt the best place for the tournament and I hope it stays in Pikeville every year.

Those concession prices are too high for a high school sporting event...they need to have the prices be comparable to what it would be if the tourney was at a high school if possible.

Yeah, too bad the EXPO Center contracts out the concessions. But Im told the non-profit groups who man the concession stands get a % of their take so you're giving to a good cause anyhow. Ask whos runnin the stand when you buy. Lotsa times its a school or church group working the stand (unless its beer) to raise money for their cause.

Yeah they do contract it out and the organization that works it gets a percentage. Atleast we are helping someone when we get ripped off haha. I know for Disney on Ice the Belfry Baseball team raised money a night by working the concessions.

As far as the idea for the tournament goes its wonderful and deffintley needs to stay there. Also Pikeville is a nice central locationw ith plenty of nice restaurants and things to that nature.

In that case I don't have a problem with it...

Regardless of who is getting a % of the money that is way too much to pay for some dogs and drinks. They need to remember that these are kids that are attending the games and money is hard to obtain for them and their parents.

I understand the tournament will be held at the Expo Center for the next 5 years if an agreement can be reached. If so, then I think the region is moving in the right direction.

Paid attendance for the first night of Boys action: 3,300

Paid attendance for the second night of Boys action: 3,500.

Girls paid attendance slipped to 1,500 on Wednesday. However, 1,500 fans at Johnson Central H.S. would be considered a full house.

It will be interesting to see how man are in attendance at tonights games and the championship game tommorrow. I say tonight may be the largest crowd ever at a 15th region tounament game.
