I compiled the above list to include the top 20 winningest high school programs in the state of Kentucky since 1990. I feel that this breakdown illustrates just how many of the teams in Kentucky stay dominant over a long period of time. This includes the past 16 years.

Do you have any comments by looking at the teams mentioned in this ELITE list? Who surprises you or who are you disappointed with, maybe you thought some team would be higher, lower, etc?

I have alos included a breakdown by class that these teams represent. There are teams in this list, however, that has switched classification more than once but I am including their recent classification.

1A: 6 teams

2A: 4 teams

3A: 7 teams

4A: 3 teams

I have also included a breakdown of geographic location per school listed above.

NKY: 2 teams

EKY: 8 teams

WKY: 4 teams

CKY: 2 teams

Lex: 1 team

Lou: 3 teams

Do these numbers in any category show you anything or prove any point? Let us know what you think.

Wow, top two teams from 1A, thats alot of domination.

Remember that Danville was 2A until '99, so most of the time period they were one level up.

Did all of these teams play a district schedule for the entire whole period in question???

I'm pretty sure that one on this list didn't and maybe more.

With our 10 game regular season schedule, it is amazing that some of the teams come in with 175+ wins in 16 years. And 193 is just unreal. That is an average of 12 per season and to maintain that kind of excellence is astounding.

Kudos to all teams listed. It takes a lot to stay on top for 16 years. Some schools may have had a super coach or player to inflate a record for a short period, but all of these schools have withstood the test of time. BTW, I was not aware that BG had been so outstanding for so long. And, to our Trinity friends, if you guys will quit beating us in state championship games, X may be able to gain on Danville.:D
