We don't need to do anything to fuel Dixie's fire, and we have plenty of fire of our own after last year.:flame: I will promise you that this will be a close competitive game throughout, but I think we have the guns to finally vanquish some Dixie demons from our past. Bricking is going to have to play his best game this week if Dixie is going to beat the Raiders. I haven't seen it so far this year, so I'm going with Ryle 24 Dixie 21

When was this? I know that Ryle originally had a logo that was very similar to the Raiders. In '99 the logo was changed to a flag, with was very similiar to the Buccaneers logo. In '04 it was changed back to nearly the same Raider, with a few differences. There are so many teams out there that have logo's like pro teams, I don't think that NFL properties could or would possibly want to regulate them all. Not calling you a liar, but I'm pretty sure it was each coach's personal decision to change the logo.

I have no problem with a parent who is a teacher wanting to keep their child at the same school they teach and or coach at. Logistically, it makes sense, when you think about travel to/from school, not to mention being able to keep an eye on your kid. I DO have a problem with those who teach at one school, say Boone Co., and send their kid to Ryle because Ryle is a football powerhouse(hypothetically of course). It's not like we pay our educators enough anyhow, so this little perk is one of very few in the business, and should be allowed regardless.

Interesting choice. First they have to beat probably both Beechwood and NCC. And I'm not convinced that either one of those teams is a top 3 team in 1A. I'll say this, if HC wins a state championship, they certainly will have earned it. For my money, I'll take Mercer. What is in the water in the Boyle Co. area?

So if I read this correctly, then Campbell needs some serious help to win the district? Am I correct in reading that they would lose in any multi-way tiebreaker as well as head to head against Ryle?

Likely to happen, sure. But that's why they play the games of course. I'm not saying I don't like our chances to win the district, but anything can happen on any given Friday night. :thumb:

Now my memory isn't as sharp as it once was, but I distinctly remember a couple of scores with 7 and 8's in the first number in the early meetings between the two schools(93-98?). I'll have to check on it, but I know for sure that one of the scores is 84-0, my brother has the picture (of the scoreboard) hanging up at his house. Either way, I don't see this one being close at any point except kickoff. That being said, I'd have never thought it would have been a 20-14 ballgame, coming down to the wire in '03 either. Never overlook anyone Raiders. :flame:

Nor is there a rule about running up the score, having coaches making a spectacle of themselves during the game, etc. It's called CLASS. I know that winning is a relatively new thing in Campbell Co., but IMO there is no place for such announcing over the PA. You don't see the announcers at Ohio State, Florida, or even programs with CLASS like Trinity, X, etc. doing such things. Why? Because its not part of the game, nor should it be. If you want someone to fire up the crowd, hire some cheerleaders. But as far as announcing goes, the announcer should announce the game. And that's it. Who did what, ball position, down distance. There should be no opinion or favoritism involved. Someone said earlier that it was just the teams that have lost to Campbell Co. that were complaining. Well speaking as a representative of a team that beat the Camels, it is not OK. If you want to add some color to your commentary I hear GT and the crew are looking for a few good men!

This could easily happen, IF the Raiders don't come prepared for a fight on Friday night. I would be shocked, and rather disappointed if that happened. But as I said earlier, if SK jumps out to an early lead, look out, because we certainly won't win a shootout.

I'll disagree with this. SK picks up a, IMO, top 5 back in NKY in Haught, a very good WR from Dixie, and all of their skill positions get another year under their belt and they aren't better than last year? This has all the makings of a "trap" game. SK is going to come out swinging as this is a "1 game season" for them. I think Ryle is the better team, but if they take the attitude that you have it might be a pretty interesting ballgame. If SK jumps out to any early lead, look out, we all know how good Ryle's offense is at playing from behind. My prediction: Ryle comes out fired up, knowing a loss might jeopardize their chances of making the playoffs, and matches SK's intensity from the opening bell. Ryle 31 SK 21

I have to disagree with this comparison. Campbell Co. was down before Schlarman went there, but they had 2 things going for them that Scott has NEVER had. First, they had actually had some form of success in the past, and even at times had competed with the BEST. Second, the CC team that Schlarman inherited had taken their lumps the previous year, but they were still competitive in most games they played. I really, really don't think the coach is the problem out at Scott. Would a big name like Yeagle help the program? Sure. Will it ever happen? Absolutely not. And herein lies the problem. How do you get a "good" coach to come to a school that has won less than 20% of their games in the last 25 years? What are your selling points? I think the only way you'll get a "good" coach is to take a chance on an unproven, untested young coach(much like RJ Reigler or Casey Fisk). IMO, open enrollment, coaching, etc. all play a part in what has been a history of losing for Scott. None of them individually are solely responsible for Scott losing, but put them all together and you have a recipe for disaster. The bottom line though is that there just isn't a commitment at the top to winning football games. Until that happens, as they say, "crap runs downhill".

Didn't need this article to prove what I already knew, that both Scott and Vince are outstanding persons. That being said, wow, what a great thing for all involved. You guys are truly a first-class representation of what all Ryle football players should strive to be. Can't say enough times how proud I am of Vince and Scott! Keep up the good work men!!

If you wish to question my allegience, so be it. I have been around the program since its inception, and I will always support my Raiders, win or lose. I can promise you, I NEVER, EVER, criticize kids. Period. I may not like signs, coaching decisions, etc., but the kids are just out there playing, and will never be a target of my ire. Having been around for a while, I just don't always see things through the same rose colored glasses as others. If I come across as negative, it is because I have seen and do see so much potential in the Raiders, that for the most part has gone unrealized. I have grown tired of excuses, such as "we would have beat so and so if we played them". But we didn't, because we got our hind ends kicked in a district championship game. No sour grapes here..........just looking for results, not excuses.

:thumb: Absolutely on the money, as usual. I still think, talent wise, Ryle is the best team in the district. Ryle/Boone usually isn't about the better team though, it's about emotion and execution, and we simply didn't match Boone last week. That being said, when we're supposed to beat someone handily, we usually do just that. Raiders, keep your eyes on the prize and continue to work towards your goal. Put last week where it should be, in the past.

I'll guaruantee that sign won't be up this year. I'll personally make sure of that, if need be. :lol:

Don't start making those excuses. Just don't. If we had taken care of business during the regular season last year against Dixie we wouldn't have been in that spot against Fern Creek. Dixie earned the right to play the team they did by beating us. From one Raider fan to another........no excuses. Hopefully Dixie will take care of their end this week so we can have another battle for the district title.

Head says Boone. Heart is pulling for the Red Colonels. One thing is for sure, I'll be pulling for a Dixie win in this one. I say: Boone 28 Dixie 17 (I'm a male, and obviously I use logic and go with my head.:lol: )

And that really hot place to the south will freeze over right after that happens.

:thumb: I agree. There for a while the old "power I" attack wasn't having much success, especially against Ryle. Then the new o-coordinator comes in and magically they are having more success against the better teams in our district(not to mention more playoff success). This is not 1940, and Ryle doesn't have the kind of linemen and backs that Boone Co. had in Coach Warner's heyday. At best Ryle is playing to beat the local teams, because if history has taught us anything it's that 1-dimensional offenses aren't going to get it done against the Louisville teams. Despite some success in the regular season, IMO Ryle has squandered some of the best athletes in NKY in the last 3 years. I've said enough, and this after cooling down for a day, let's just say I'm not happy.:irked:

:thumb: From all that I have seen and heard, I think the same thing. For the CovCath fans: How is the team doing, injury wise? Is the grind of such a tough schedule wearing on the roster in some spots? If I recall correctly, you guys were a little banged up last year going into this game. A personal observation. For all the hype and hooplah of Rodenburg's spread offense coming to Park Hills, I haven't been overly impressed. What I have been impressed by is the DEFENSE that Coach R and his staff have implemented. IMO, if the offense can ever score 21 pts a game, CovCath would be scary good. My prediciton: Watterson 17 CovCath(continuing their average) 3
