But it seems like so long ago......... And that rivalry was quite a heated one at that time, and there were some great games.

I know we have another win in there somewhere, I definately remember the '95 game though. I'll dig through the archives I suppose. You also left off a playoff loss in '98 in think(for Ryle that is).

I'm pretty sure they beat CovCath in '98, and I know for a fact they beat them in 2004, at Beechwood.

Recent or in the past? Unofficially(which pretty much means the games I have seen or can remember, which usually isn't right) I'll say: Highlands - 2-2, maybe 2-3 CovCath - 1 and something, maybe 4 Keep in mind that Ryle was playing with, competing with, and beating these schools just 3 years after it opened its doors, 2 years after it started a FB program.

Can't wait. If you look back, there have been some pretty good games in between the Birds and the Raiders. If you want my personal thoughts, Highlands will have the edge next year, as they return a lot, whereas Ryle loses Murray and Gray. Experience is always important, but especially so in those early games in the season. Either way, should be a good game.

LSU, I'd agree that this is the way that most see it. However, I'd say that the difference between these teams is about the difference between T, X, and Male, for what it's worth. If you want my opinion, I say they should bring back the old CovCath/Ryle rivalry. I still have a sore spot for a blocked PAT in OT. :mad: :lol:

JMO. And by so/so, I mean a good H.S. back, but certainly not college material. No slight to the "all name" backfield, of the Godfather of Soul and the man on the horns. :lol:

I disagree wholeheartedly. Brown was very good, Davis was so/so at best. I don't put a lot of stock in the 1A kids, although the kids from HC were very good athletes(from Ohio), because they run up huge numbers against the Daytons, Bracken Co.'s, Ludlows of the world. Highlands always seems to have a back that runs for 1000, and I think that's a credit to their system, coaching, and the supporting cast. But honestly, Mueller/Gramstatdt as good as or better than Murray? I think your stretching it, and in the process discrediting your argument. If you wanted to argue a Highlands backfield, you should have picked Frisk and Lickert.

Well this has gotten entirely out of hand. First a simple discussion about Ryle being the best team in NKY, and now Vince Murray is the next coming of Shaun Alexander? :scared: I'll give my 2 cents, for what it's worth. I don't think any of Highlands, CovCath, or Ryle is head and shoulders better than the other. Certainly not the "so and so would name the score" type of better. I think they are fairly even, with some contrasting styles. My order would probably go 1. CCH 2. Ryle 3. Highlands. Vince Murray is a great player, and will be able to play big time D1 football somwhere at LB if he so chooses. He is not Shaun Alexander. I'm not sure where he fits in as far as "best since Shaun" but I think he's in there somewhere. Maybe not at the top, but somewhere in the top 5-10 how's that?

Depends on what you mean by "behind". If T jumps out to a 21 point lead is that trouble for Ryle? Sure, would be for most teams. Our offense isn't built to come from behind quickly. I'd look for Ryle to try to control the clock by running the football, and keep the T offense off the field. Interesting clash of styles, we'll see which one wins out on Thursday.

Coach Cov is, IMO, without a doubt, the best at getting the most out of his players in the state of KY offensively. I don't think that Ryle will try to outcover T, but rather try to get pressure(not Male pressure, but pressure) on Petrino.

I'm sure they'll mix in a little of both, just as most teams do. They are NOT a predominately man coverage team, and I wouldn't forsee them play a ton of it against T. They do play some man under with safety help on long passing downs. IMO, Ryle's corners won't fair too awful bad, all things considered, against the T wideouts on the outside in MtoM. But against guys in the slot, and the multiple looks coach Cov throws out, I don't know how often that will happen, and that's where some mismatches could be had against MtoM.

Honestly, I have had my doubts about the predominately running attack of the Raiders as well. But it is true, they really haven't had a need to throw the ball more than approx. 10 times a game this year. Now whether that will fly against the Rocks.......we'll have to see.

As mentioned earlier, neither was Ryle. Both teams have improved immensely throughout the year. Ryle did/should win this game fairly handily. No slap to NCC, they are a 4A team after all.

While the matchup is intruiging on paper, I'm not sure how much of a game it would be. I would have thought the same at the beginning of the season, and just like CCH has improved throughout the year, so has Trinity, so I'd expect the same now. For what it's worth, I'd love to see this game happen in the future though.

I disagree with the defensive part. I don't think the Raiders can hold T to that low of a score. They are just too good offensively. I love our D, but this offense is unlike any other in the state. Remember the gameplan the BC used against us? Run/mix in pass out of the spread? Picture that, but about 10 times better. If Ryle can manage to hold the score down as low as you predicted, I think they'll have a fantastic shot to win a state championship. However, myself personally, I haven't seen anything in the previous games with T to make me think that we'll "shut down" Petrino and Co. I think we, Ryle, need to score in the mid 30's to 40's to win, AND control the clock by running the football.

In all seriousness LSU, you know I'm as fair as fair can be, but you and the Rock fans have been a little harsh on my Raider faithful. Which is fine, some of it is probably deserved. But IF Ryle were to pull of an upset win, or even play a competitive game with the Rocks(as many have predicted won't happen), I'd go into hiding if I were you. Definately, I wouldn't go home.........the dumptrucks delivring your crow would probably keep you from getting in the door. :lol: Here's hoping you have to eat your words!

Sour grapes? :confused: I'm not sure where this rant is directed, but I'll pick it up. First, sure Duffy has had success, in the past, with the "thin thirty". To do it at the 4A level is an entirely different thing. And if Ryle wouldn't fair too well against Trinity, imagine how Hendo would have fared!:scared: I'm really not sure how that argument makes your team look better. Ryle has, in the past, played both Highlands and CovCath, in very competetive games. I would expect nothing less this year, if they had played. But don't come attacking other schools because your coach draws a big bullseye on his back.

I understand the logic, but it is flawed at best. Trinity has played a bit stiffer competition than Ryle this year. I think if Ryle can hold them to 21 pts they'll definately have a great shot. Considering noone has done that this year, I don't think it will happen though. I'd love to see it, but I don't think it will happen. Trinity has two wideouts who are both better than Griffin(they are twins), and a QB that kind of reminds me of O'Toole from a couple years ago. Athletically, we haven't seen this kind of talent all year. It will take Ryle's best effort of the season to beat the Rocks at the Pizza Box. Here's hoping that happens! :ylsuper:
