Belfry Wins

Even when Southern was loaded (when they came to Belfry they were good with taht RB. But then I still dont think it would have been much of a game. A game Id like to see is Belfry NCC again Id travel for it. Also Belfry/Highlands, wed probably loose but it would make us better and wed sure give it a go (we have beat them before). Also defintley Belfry/Johnson Central, I think a real game, not a scrimage between the 2 would really help both in the long term. Im interested to know Belfrys schedule next year.

No offense but that is a huge step up in schedule to you guys and saying you wont go undefeated is defintley not doubting. Sure you have a shot every team does. But I dont see a undefeated season you guys play a tuff schedule, which will help you more when you have to face off again witha team like Russell.

Hey T fans you guys are what every program wants to be. Rather people are jealous or not you guys are the best and congratulations you guys EARNED it.

Mercer fans here is my advice to you, for one try to not get so mad. You have an advantage nad that is obvious but its not your fault or the kids fault. Sometimes in life you have an advantage and when you do people is going to get mad. You have to simply take what life has given you and play it to its full advantage. I feel Mercer has done that, so take what you did be proud of it and dont let people get under your skin because it will drive you crazy. I use to get so mad when ppl griped about WV kids comming to Belfry. You know what they do at times, do we recruit them? No. Did we win 2 state championships because of it? Most defintley. But what we did was take the advantage we had and made the most of it just like you guys are doing. So remember this no matter what anyone says dont get so mad so easily because you guys are int he championship which is were every team other than the final 8 wanted to be, including my Belfry. You guys do have an advantage, no denying it. But its not the students or fans fault. I know no matter what class you guys play in this year and even if you was to loose Friday I will still look at this team as a GREAT team.

Really Belfry beat NCC this year 7 to 6. I know NCC is improved but so was Belfry and Russell beat Belfry 19 to 0 and face off against a Mercer Team that is as good as any AA team in a while. They either one might could win 2a but I wouldnt soudn confident when NCC did loose to Belfry this year. By the way good luck to NCC. I love what Danville has done but after playing NCC this year they were a classy bunch of kids and a good classy bunch of fans. They really impressed me and it was Belfry's honor to ahve them playing against us. So good luck guys win it all.

Yeah FBALL I havent got to watch the tape I have been busy since after the game. But I will take your word for it. But good effort on trying to make the catch.

Yeah the no saftey call was the right call. I have one question though and Im not accusing anything Im just confused. When we played Breathitt a few years back we lost on a last second play (reallynever caught the ball but they said he did). He never got his feet down neither but they said because the ball crossed and we made the contact knocking him out of bounds then it was a catch in highschool football. Lastnight the rules was different and I was just wondering which was correct? Honestly though it was most evenly matched Belfry Russell game I have seen yet. It came down to most post on here and we made the mistakes and they made the plays. It was as simple as that. The td by G the questionable safety and the offsides were only questionable calls all night. And the no safety was the right call and probably the touchdown on G. They did miss that offsides call by alot and it gave Russell the early lead but that is no excuse. We cant just make the mental mistakes we made and win. Congrats Russell and good luck next week.

Its game time. Belfry you have a special team and I believe in you. Fight until the end and I believe you guys will come out on top. All fans lets make the enviorment Hostile. Be loud and be proud. By the wasy Somerset fans and players you will enjoy this game. NCC has a very classy bunch of kids and fans. They truly do take after their coach and they are a pleasure to play against.

First it is Belfry. Second Pikeville played their best and only game of the year against us. Pikeville had problems getting up for games and that is what happened against Hazard. If the same Pikeville team Belfry saw played against Hazard or Somerset Pikeville would still be playing but they just didnt show up after the Belfry game. Ill say this NCC is for real. They are big fast and strong. Somersets only hope is to get pressure on their QB and hit him. If their qb has time to pass then watch out he has a great arm. I wil say NCC 35 Somerset 14.

Like echoed before if you go the WV way when you get to Kermit please so down or you will get a ticket they are always cops there and they drop the speedlimit as you get into the town so obey it.

I didnt say none I said they will take care of the ball. Alot of the times earlier int he year we would jst drop the ball for no reason and we have seemed to cut that out. With our offense and Russells though its hard to imagine a turnover free game. With all the misdirections fumbles do occur. I do hope Belfry can repeat the performance and not turn the ball over any like last week but I defintley will not say that for sure. But I feel that we will do a good job in taking care of the ball. I feel that this is a low scoring game and turnovers will be crucial. I still think though the winner of this game is the team that tackles the best. If either of the teams do the arm tackling and missed tackles then it will be a ruff night. Both teams have struggled with this from what I understand throughout the year. All Russell fans be careful on the trip to Belfry. I hope you have a fun safe trip down and a sad safe trip back lol.

Belfry will take care of the ball. As far as the PA announcer yeah he is there and he is fired up. Since we got the new PA he really gets into the games and really keeps the fans going. They arent nothing wrong with that though go to UK and listen to theirs when UK gets a first down. We have one of the best PA guys around. Coach Haywood was the one who started to have him to get more into a game this year, since the Prestonburg game he has been wild and I heard him on the radio this week and he was wild then lol.

Yeah a crowd plays a huge part of the game. Teams notice when a crowd comes out to support. At Belfry you arent playing for just yourself but the whole community. Also props to Cov Cath from what I hear you guys are great and classy which goes hand in hand. If you all get past JC hopefully I will see you guys in Louisville. Obviously Im rooting for JC due to Matney (a friend) but if you guys win I will defintley support you 100 percent at Louisville.

Ill be at Belfry but I wish all the mountain teams luck. Especialy JC they are a great team and their coach is a personal friend of mine and alot of guys from Pond Creek nothing but the best to JC. As far as the Somerset vs NCC, I have mixed emotions. You usualy wan to see the local team win and Im not cheering against them but in a way I want to see NCC win. Not because we beat them but because they were a classy football team. I really enjoyed the game with NCC and would love to play them again in the future they were a classy well coached team. When Belfry played them it was just two good football teams going and it all the way and hugging each others necks out of respect after the game. That is what I like to see out of two teams.

I know that FBALL. But what I was saying is we "should" be more improved due to our QB change. I mean our QB change has helped Belfry control turnovers and really added a threat to sneak some passes in. He was 3 for 3 with like 120 yards and three TD's against the Boro and he carries a great fake. Also we were able to work Preston in at WR some (the original qb) and he has done a nice job. Also we play quiet a few sophmores so hopefully they have developed alot mroe. Coach Haywood strategy is get better each week and I believe Middlesboro was probably our best game yet. It will take another one to win Friday. Also to the Russell fans talking about a team loosing its fire. Last year when we went to your guys place we defintley had lost ours. We though that defending AA state champs was enuff and you proved us wrong. We woke up but tio was to late. I feel our guys are ready for this game. I feel Russell will see a better team than the one that traveled there last year. But that is just my opinion. I think this will be a classic game. What does everyone think the scoring will be like. I see neither team getting more than 28 points That is just my guess but you never know. It reminds me of Ohio State and Michigan. You seem to expect a low scoring game but these offesnses arent bad neither. Im going to make a prediction that might hold true, we have both struggled with tacking. Belfry has done better lately and you guys complained about tackling at the Corbin game. The ability to wrap up all game will be the key to this game for both teams against the break away backs we both have. The team with less missed tackles just might win this game.

ALso give us credit last week no turnovers. We have worked hard on hanging on to the ball. Also this is a different team than traveled to Ashland. We dont even have the same QB and our QB is a big part to our sucess now.

Ill tell you this. Our backfield is stronger than it was last year when we played Russell. Maynard was hurt that game and was inefective. He played with all the heart in the world but was hurt. I feel we are defintley a better team than last year when we hold onto the ball. Our defense is what I like this year. When we make tackles our D is tuff. We are quick to the ball and make plays. We have sophmores that play like Seniors. I love this team I really feel they are something special about them. I think it is going to be fun Friday.

Win or loose Montgomery Inn ribs would make it all worth it lol.

I dont know were to begin. I think last week our defense faced the best offense in AA. This week we probably face one of the best defenses. This game will provide plenty of hard hits. I look for a score of like 28 to 20. These two teams both have been here and knows how to win this game so it will be a classic. I truly think Belfry will win this game but its going to be close. With these two teams it all comes down to who gets the push at the line of scrimage. One thing different with Belfry this year is our D-Line. We arent big but we are fast and hit hards. What kind of matchup problems willt hat cause to Rusell O-LIne?

Belfry had one free gift on a turnover that was uncaused and that was the fumble. The first interception was just an amazing catch. The second and thrid was caused by pressure. Middlesboro was faster than I figured they would be. I would be willing to say they were fastest team in 2a and thats not a knock to no team. I figured though their D scheme would hurt them some. Coach Haywood came with a game plan that took it to Middlesboro and it worked. And the forced turnovers was part of the game plan to. Belfry believed if they could lay some good hits it would force some things and it worked. But Middlesboro dont hang your heads losses stink and you can always think of things you could do better (especialy when you loose) The big difference in this game was Belfrys size and depth. In the second half we were comming free after the QB every play. But dont quit Middlesboro you guys do have sumtin special going on. I do hope everyone made it home safely. The Middlesboro fans I talked with tonight were all nice and classy bunch of people. Go get Russell Belfry we got revenge on our mind. I know you guys can do it.

I havent seen your Titans this year Joe but the stats speak for themself. One thing about Belfry, Russell, and OCath is they are all fundamentaly sound and Im sure its the same way with you guys. Another thing is the three teams left besides Mercer are three teams who has the depth to match them. I think 2a will be interesting this year.

Mercer might the favorite and rightfully so. But they play a gian killer in Ocath Friday. Then theyd have to play Belfry or Russell and anyone that would doubt one of these two chances just doesnt no 2a football. They are 4 powerhouse excellent football teams left.

Congrats Central I believe in you guys. Belfry is behind you guys 100 percent. Lets both make Eastern Ky proud this year. Believe because you guys can do this. Congrats you have something speacial going on in Johnson County.

I will say Middlesboro has the fastest team I have seen in a long time. They have nothing to be ashamed of. Belfry played one of the better games of the year. Great execution. The turnovers by Middlesboro you have to give some credit to Belfry's D. They made some excellent plays and brought some great pressure and forced the QB to get rid of the ball on a couple passes he should have ate. But congrats Middlesboro your team was good very fast. Belfry way to go guys you guys have a special team. Believe in yourself play with all you got and great thing will happen. Im ready for Turkey Pirate and Devil style. Lets go Belfry.
